Take Her Tongue

When the maid was ushered into the room, the king was standing and pensively looking out the window and the tense frame of his shoulders told her not to expect anything good from the meeting.

She had never had the pleasure of being alone with the king and despite the tension in the room she still blushed in his presence thinking that he was so handsome most especially now that he was no longer having to pretend that he was a cripple. She had heard that the princess had taken sick and she figured that was why King Kael had summoned her.

Knowing that King Kael was never mean to the staff she guessed that she would just be scolded and punished lightly. If it had been prince Ara or his mother or worse princess Marcela, she would have been quaking in her boot. The king was a fair king.
