Searching His Past

"Of course, I will guide you there. But are you sure you would be fine there?" asked David with a deep frown settling on his face. He looked like an aging father getting worried for his son.

"Yes, it would be better that you stay here for the night." whispered the girl with a suggestive meaning. Looking at the glimmer in her eyes, Ethan was sure that she had misunderstood him.

He shook his head softly. He did not care if she misunderstood him as long as she helped him.

"No, I need to leave. I do not want to trouble your family anymore." he had already checked there were only two rooms. One small room for their daughter on the first floor and a comparatively large room beside it must have belonged to the couple. While the ground floor only had a small kitchen and a large hall with a balcony to sit and enjoy there was no furniture where he could sleep.

The couple knew that too since they hardly had guests coming. They never minded the small house.

"Well.. if you insist." David gave an embarrassed laugh, "but you will come here in case you need anything." he suggested and only nodded when Ethan accepted his offer.

Soon, they left the house. As they walked, Ethan's face went uglier. If David's place was in the slum, this area was the worst. All he could smell was dirt and rotten things around.

"That one is your building. You live on the thirteenth floor. House number 1306." David pointed at a building that could fall at any moment. "Your building is old but the manager is quite strict. He would not let me enter easily." he sighed as he patted Ethan's shoulder. "Come visit me again, you will feel better with us."

The look of worry made Ethan feel guilty. It was not that Ethan had lost his memories, he had lost his soul. The person now was not this man's friend.

He shook his head and walked toward the building, he needed rest and he needed to sort out his thoughts.

Ethan noticed how the manager's eyes narrowed when he entered the building. He wondered if he had some rent due to this crappy building?

But when he opened the door of the room he was told, he was stunned to see the inside. The outer building looked like it was going to fall apart at any moment. But the inside was different. The color of the walls looks expensive.

Though the furnishings were minimal with only a bed, a large closet, one cabinet, and a sofa set with a large TV.

He knew all of that was luxurious just by touching it. It did not look like one could afford to sell meat in the vegetable market. His eyes narrowed.

Without wasting time, he started searching for clues in the closet.

There he found four keys, one number, and a family photograph but he could not see himself in that picture. He gazed at the picture and felt the man looked familiar.

So, he picked it up and searched it on Google. It hardly took a few seconds before the man in the picture was shown in many poses. He was wearing a suit and looked old now. The picture must be very old. But it did show him.

Ethan read the information with a somber face. The more he read about it, the more his face darkened and looked somber.

"The elite businessman who had changed the world with his business."

"The backbone of Zacharia Economy, the first largest exporter of the country belongs to this city and it has started one more orphanage."

The more he read about it, the more he felt that the man was more than a billionaire. He had so many businesses and his conglomerate had been spread to many cities.

He felt fascinated by the man. He remembered reading about him in his college days too. He was not able to recognize him at one glance because he looked too young in the picture. Perhaps from his college days.

But why did Erhan have this picture? A wild thought came and he looked at himself. f in the mirror. But no, their features did not match at all. There was no way that it could be his father. He shook that thought away and put the picture back. Then he checked the clothes. All of them were shirts with rare shirts but they looked luxurious. There was something that he could not pinpoint.

"So, this Ethan. He sells meat for a living yet he had such a large amount to give on loan. And now he looks in a place like this. He wished there was a computer he could search. But then. He took out his mobile phone and went through it.

It had so many pictures of scenic beauty. A lot of pictures of boxing and fighting arenas too.

The bookmarks were all about boxing clubs and all. This man had brawns.

He searched for documents then. One by one, he went through all the information until he fell asleep on the sofa.

When he woke up, it was already morning. He looked around with a sigh and yawned.

"One day has passed, and I know nothing about this man!" he shook his head and walked to the washroom to take a shower. Once again, he was amazed at the technology in the small apartment. The kitchen was perfect too. He had a luxurious breakfast of muesli and shakes before getting ready.

He went to his stall but it was already noon. David looked at him worried.

"You have never been late before, brother. Are you sure you do not need a visit to the hospital?" he asked with a gloomy face as the last customers left with their orders. "If you are worried about money, then I will pay the bills. Many doctors know me there." he offered in a kind voice.

Ethan knew that the man meant good. But what would going to the doctor would do? He was not sick, he did not fall. He is just a victim of that foolish bunny. If only he could bring that bunny back here and beat him.

He gritted his teeth as he cursed the bunny again. To his surprise, a bunny started to appear in front of him in a soul form. He was sure that only he could see that suited bunny as no one pointed at the strange thing.

"What happened this time?" the bunny glared, "can you not stop complaining?" The bunny scowled and glared at Ethan before looking around and when he did not feel any urgency, he disappeared from there again leaving Ethan dumbfounded.

But wait? Why did that bunny come there in the first place? It did not look like he wanted to check up on him.

Wait! "Ha! Hahahaha!" could it be that the bunny was bound to come whenever he called for it? To test his new theory, he cursed the bunny again! Then again. But nothing happened, the bunny did not return, making Ethan frown.

"Young boy, we need to go to the hospital now," David announced but before they could take a step forward. Five gangsters stop their path.

"Where are you going without paying rent?"
