Fool With A Temper

At the police station,

Sara, the chief of the police bureau, was working on a file about a kidnapping. She had to submit it to the court tomorrow and ensure the criminals get at least seven years of sentence. When the door opened an old man entered, nodding at her.

She frowned when he sat down but started working on her files again.

"Yes, how may I help you?" though she spoke, she would send him to the concerned police meeting the moment he stated his reason.

"I am here for the bail of Ethan Stuart." an old man looking like a hundred-year-old with his face but still standing erect asked in a collected voice as he took the seat in front of the chief officer instead of any other policemen who could handle this menial task.

Sara frowned when she noticed the man had entered without being stopped at the door by two guards. Her eyes narrowed at the luxurious suit he was wearing. She was an uptight officer and at once, she felt hostility toward the old man since she had hated people who use connections for every task.

"Go to the third table outside, Gary hands when it comes to bailing small criminals. And if you are here for a bigger criminal, I would look at the file first." she was sure there were only two big criminals who were caught committing kidnapping. And none of them was Ethan.

"I had gone to him." the man responded in a calm voice. He did not mind the hostility of the officer chief, "but they said that no report was registered against him." Sara frowned, her pen finally stopped and she looked at him with more seriousness.

"Sir, then he must be in some other police station. You should go and confirm first." Her voice was still calm but stern, there was a hint of authority in her voice that forced others to do her bidding.

The man looked perplexed.

"But I have confirmed it twice. Mike Stone, is the policeman working here only. He had dragged Ethan Stuart and handcuffed him. Could he send a criminal to another jail?" Sara frowned. Her brows furrowed and she pressed the bell at once.

One of the guards waiting at her down entered but did not dare to meet her eyes. They knew how Sara loathed the connections and arrogance of rich men. They tried to stop this old man but the other policeman forbade them. In the end, they could not do anything.

"Go and call Stone now," she yelled, making the guard shudder and leave at once.

"Are you sure that it was Mr Stone? There could be a misunderstanding?" she asked again but the old man still shook his head.

Soon the police officer who had gone to the slum areas to arrest Ethan entered the office. He had just returned after informing the injured young master of the underworld team that Ethan had been arrested and would rot in jail all his life.

He was still pleased with the notes he had received in response. His pocket was still heavy with them when he was called inside. His face looked grim and all his attention was on his pocket.

Could it be that Sara knows about it? No! That was not possible. He had made sure that no one knew about it. He had not even written an official report of the case and his men would take Ethan stealthily until he found a good case and attach his name to it.

Kidnapping! No, a murderer would do so that the man would rot in jail all his life or better die there soon.

"You have called for me, Chief.'' Though his eyes were filled with disdain as a woman was his boss, he faked respect and saluted her. His hands were behind his back and he took the proper position to respect his senior.

Sara slowly nodded and then she looked at the old man as if she wanted to confirm to him that he was the Stone they were talking about. When the old man nodded, she felt perplexed.

"Yes, have you arrested someone today?" the man paused for a second. A wild thought that this old man wearing the luxurious watch had come for Ethan, but no, that could not be true. He had checked thrice, the man was dirt poor.

"I.." but when the man turned to look at him, there was no doubt anymore. "Yes, I brought a man named Ethan in the morning under the suspicion of a robbery and beating others." Sara frowned when she noticed the smile on the face of the old man.

"Why is there no report then?" a layer of frost covered her features as she looked at Mike icily.

"That… we wanted to confirm first. Harry is investigating the matter. As soon as it is confirmed." Sara stood up before he could complete the sentence. Her cold eyes did not leave Mike for a second.

"Take me to the investigation room." She had checked all the footage half an hour ago and she did not see any investigation happening. But she did remember a camera not working. She had asked the staff to call an electrician. But it looked like it was not required anymore.

"That.."

"Forget it, you stay here until I return.'' She looked at the old man standing up. "You will wait here too.'' The man frowned and looked at Mike. but he did not challenge her authority and sat again.

With hurried steps and gritting teeth, she went to check the room only to find her two police officers lying unconscious on the ground. One of them was in critical condition.

Her eyes widened and she ran to check their pulse. To her relief, the wound was not as deep as it looked.

She called several policemen to help them and took them to the hospital. The chaos was heard by Mike who was shocked to know that his men were injured. He ran out followed by the old man.

When the old man noticed the condition of the policemen his eyes narrowed. He waited for the lady to return. But when she did not, he paid a note to a guard and asked what happened.

His eyes widened when he came to know that Ethan had beaten the police officers and left. With hurried steps, he left the police station. The car was still waiting outside. As he approached the door opened and the passenger looked at him with a frown.

"You took much longer than expected." but when the man didn't notice Ethan walking out, his frown only grew deeper. "Do not tell me you failed in such a simple task." The old man wiped the sweat off his face and explained the condition hurriedly only to earn a chuckle in return.

"So, you are saying that he had lost his mind completely now and started beating the policeman too.'' The passenger did not look surprised at Ethan's ability to beat. "Ha! I have already done enough by coming here. If he wanted to fall in trouble so badly, he could only blame his temper and his naivety."
