The Jade court II

She barely dodged the strike it grazed past her shoulder, close enough to stir her hair. Her breath hitched. Ambrosia snapped her head toward Dorian, expecting him to leap in, but he only stood there… arms crossed, gaze indifferent, as if the attack was part of the ceremony.

They must all be insane.

Another blow came at her this one lower, aimed for her ribs. She twisted aside, the hem of her dress catching beneath her feet. Her pulse thundered. It was a member of the Jade court. And he was trying to kill her in plain sight and no one was stopping him.

She stumbled forward, the layers of embroidery wrapping around her like a snare. She hit the floor with a sharp gasp, breath ragged as the fabric tangled her limbs.
