Unwanted Attention

Chapter: 19

Adrian hovered above the city, his arms crossed, after successfully closing the tear. As he scanned the surroundings, he noticed a man hiding behind a building, staring directly at him while speaking into a walkie-talkie. Adrian's eyes widened slightly, catching the man's suspicious behavior. He maintained his composure and vanished in a streak of lightning.

Meanwhile, the man on the ground hastily backed away, his heart racing with the urgency of his situation. "Foundation, the anomaly vanished. I need more men down here," he spoke into his walkie-talkie, his voice tinged with concern.

Just as he turned to leave, he bumped into something solid behind him. Startled, he spun around to see Adrian standing there, a faint crackling of energy around him.

"Going somewhere?" Adrian asked, his voice calm.

The man stumbled back, visibly taken aback by Adrian's sudden appearance. He pulled out a handgun, pointing it at Adrian with a trembling hand. Adrian raised an eyebrow, unfazed by the weapon.

"I swear, you people from the SCP Foundation are always headaches," Adrian remarked casually.

The man's eyes widened at the mention of the SCP Foundation. His grip on the handgun tightened, and his eyes narrowed with suspicion.

"How do you know about the Foundation?" he demanded, his voice shaky.

Adrian sighed, a faint glow of energy flickering around him. "Oh, that's simple. I have a history of dealing with people from that organization."

The man's expression hardened, his finger twitching on the trigger. "You're a threat to the Foundation," he spat out.

Adrian tilted his head slightly, his gaze steady. "Depends on who you ask, really. I did do you guys a favor by destroying a major Chaos Insurgency base a while back," he said with a shrug.

"that was you?"

Adrian shrugged nonchalantly. "Doesn't matter if I tell you, you're going to die anyway."

With a sudden burst of speed, Adrian closed the distance between them, grabbed his throat, and slammed him against the wall. The force of the blow caused the gun to fall from his hand. The man struggled, gasping for air as Adrian's grip tightened.

"Now, let's have a little chat," Adrian said calmly, his voice carrying a hint of danger. "Is the foundation looking for SCP-239, The Witch Child Sigurrós Stefánsdóttir?"

"How do you know of that?"

Adrian's grip tightened even further, his eyes flashing with a dangerous glint. "Answer the question," he demanded, his voice low and menacing.

The man winced in pain, his breath coming in shallow gasps. "Yes," he choked out. "We've been searching for SCP-239 to bring her back into custody."

"I see. You have served your purpose, die."

With a flex of Origin manipulation, the man's body was erased. Elena descended gracefully beside Adrian.

"Trouble?" she asked, her tone calm.

Adrian glanced at Elena briefly. "Just a Foundation lackey," he replied casually.

"Was killing him wise?"

"Wiping his memory wasn't going to work anyway, so I destroyed his origin. Unless you or I bring him back, he's not coming back."

"Fair, so let me guess, the transmission didn't go through, did it?"

"Technokinesis is such a fun power."

Elena rolled her eyes. "Let's go find Camile."

"Yeah, yeah, buzz kill."

They both vanished in a burst of speed, going to find Camile. They appeared in an alleyway and saw Camile standing in front of a group of people who were wary of her presence, but otherwise fine.

"Camile," Adrian called out.

Camile turned to face them, a slight nod of acknowledgment.

"Lord Adrian, I was just about to come find you," she stated respectfully.

"No need," Adrian replied, stepping forward to address the group.

"Alright, let's make this quick and simple," Adrian announced to the gathered people. "If you wish to relinquish the abilities you've gained, stand to my left. If you choose to keep them, stand to my right."

The group exchanged uncertain glances but began to separate into two groups, hesitantly making their decisions. After two minutes, they made their decision.

"Okay, four who want to keep their powers and others don't, okay."

Adrian clapped his hands once, and a gentle flash of light enveloped those who had opted to relinquish their newfound abilities and erase their memories of having them while teleported them home.

"Those of you who have chosen to keep your powers," Adrian continued, addressing the remaining group, "through the portal."

He gestured towards a shimmering portal that materialized nearby, leading to a white room where they would receive further guidance.

"Okay, last tear left. Oh, and remind me to make a pit stop at France when we are finished, okay?"

"Yes, Master."

"Yeah, I'll try."

Adrian gave a deadpan stare to his sister before shaking his head.

"Let's go."
