Chapter 106 The New Season Begins! The Opening Match Is The King Bomb?

"Are you still here?"

"Come again!"

On a scorching midsummer afternoon in July, the sun in Berlin was relentless. On the training ground, Union Berlin's teammates were huddled in the shade, watching the duel between Su Luo and Leroy Sane.

It wasn't so much a duel as it was a one-sided thrashing. At first, Sane tried various techniques against Su Luo. Explosive sprints, quick direction changes, fancy heel kicks, and rhythm shifts—he used every trick he knew. But Su Luo was like a wall, stopping every move Sane made.

After several unsuccessful attempts, Sane was left in disbelief. How could a striker be so good at defense? Su Luo's positional sense was comparable to a world-class defender.

Finally, after another blocked attempt, Sane lost his balance and fell to the ground, panting and staring up at the scorching sun. Soon, a shadow loomed over him.

"What, still want to continue?" Su Luo asked, extending a hand to help him up.

Sane swatted Su Luo's hand away, getting up on his own and glaring at him. "It's your turn."

Sane was determined to get back at Su Luo, even if it meant fouling him.

Su Luo nodded. "Alright, let's go."

The possession duel only lasted three minutes. Su Luo took the ball and approached Sane, who lowered his center of gravity, focusing on the ball at Su Luo's feet. Su Luo casually performed a step-over, and Sane sneered inwardly.

"That's it? When I was 10—" Before Sane could finish his thought, Su Luo burst past him with incredible speed. Sane tried to shift his weight to block Su Luo, but Su Luo deftly changed direction, leaving Sane floundering.

Sane watched helplessly as Su Luo easily passed him and fired a shot that hit the post with a loud bang, rebounding perfectly for Su Luo to control again. The sound echoed across the training ground.

"Are you still coming?" Su Luo asked calmly, foot on the ball.

"Come again!" Sane gritted his teeth, refusing to back down. He charged at Su Luo with all his strength, hoping to knock him down.

"F**k! This kid!" The teammates on the sidelines cursed, worried for Su Luo.

But Su Luo remained unfazed. He activated his "Harland mode" and collided hard with Sane. Sane was sent flying, while Su Luo continued dribbling past him.

"Are you still here?" Su Luo asked once more.

For the third time, Sane attempted a sliding tackle, but Su Luo effortlessly dodged it with a rainbow flick, leaving Sane on the ground.

"Are you still here?" Su Luo repeated, looking down at Sane with a hint of contempt.

Sane was speechless. Even in Champions League matches, he had never felt such pressure.

"Okay, you're amazing," Sane finally conceded. "You win, Captain."

Su Luo helped him up, locking eyes seriously. "Remember, every game is a battle, and the team is your comrades in arms. If you mess up because of personal reasons, you'll be benched, no matter how much your transfer fee cost. Clear?"

Sane, humbled, nodded honestly.

"Good. Now, let's go meet your teammates." Su Luo introduced Sane to the rest of the team, who had witnessed the showdown.

Surprisingly, despite his earlier arrogance, the team welcomed Sane warmly. He realized quickly that they respected Su Luo deeply, and his earlier foul play had lowered their opinion of him. Sane knew he had to work hard to earn their respect.

"You're only 18, and you're already this respected?" Sane was deeply impressed.

After the initial tension, Union Berlin's preparations for the new season continued smoothly. New players like Kimmich, Pavard, Ake, Rudiger, and Maher Reiss gradually integrated into the team.

Paredes, who didn't speak German or English, had difficulty communicating. Fortunately, Su Luo, having taken Spanish in high school, could bridge the gap.

Su Luo discovered a newfound talent for languages in this life. Wherever he went to play football, he wouldn't face communication barriers.

As Union Berlin prepared intensely, big news kept breaking in the European transfer market. Union Berlin's signings had already shaken up the German transfer market. Then Bayern officially announced the signing of Sabitzer, causing excitement among their fans.

"It has strengthened their midfield. No wonder they bought so many players for the new season," fans commented. "Without Sabitzer, let's see how you win!"

Bayern aimed to regain supremacy, signing Douglas Costa for 30 million euros and bringing Vidal from Juventus for 37 million. They also offloaded players like Shaqiri, Xiaozhu, and Dante, focusing on strengthening and streamlining their midfield.

Bayer Leverkusen signed Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez from Manchester United, hoping to strengthen their striker position.

The biggest transfer in the entire Bundesliga was perhaps Leroy Sane to Union Berlin, and Arturo Vidal to Bayern Munich!

In La Liga, there were no significant signings, with Real Madrid and Barcelona mainly offloading players. Xavi, Pedro, Iker Casillas, Coentrao, and Khedira were among the notable departures.

The Premier League saw the most action in the transfer market. Liverpool bought Benteke for £32.5 million and Brazilian Firmino for £29 million. Legendary player Steven Gerrard moved to North America to retire.

Manchester City, rich and powerful, signed Grealish for £45 million and then took De Bruyne from Wolfsburg for £52 million! They also signed Sterling from Liverpool for £49 million. Including other signings, they spent over £150 million!

Manchester United spent heavily as well, signing Martial, Depay, Schweinsteiger, and Schneiderlin. Tottenham acquired Son Heung-min and Trippier from the Bundesliga. Son's transfer fee of €30 million set a record for an Asian player.

The media in South Korea started boasting again. "Son Heung-min's transfer fee is the highest; he is the top player in Asia!"

Seeing such shameless claims, Chinese netizens hadn't even had time to respond before Japanese netizens started ridiculing.

"Son Heung-min was scared by Su Luo and left the Bundesliga in despair." "Stop boasting; it's embarrassing!" "Is it so hard to admit that Su Luo is better?" "Su Luo is widely recognized as the best in Asia. Just accept it."

The rare China-Japan friendship emerged when the netizens of the two countries found a common topic.

Many teams with great ambitions were aiming for the league championship and the Champions League! The 2015-2016 season was about to kick off!

"What's all the commotion about?" Su Luo asked as he arrived at the club at 2:47 PM, preparing for the day's warm-up match. He noticed the players gathered around the bulletin board, indicating something big was happening.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"Su, haven't you watched the news?" one teammate replied.

"No, I had something to do this morning..."

Josephine rarely returned to Berlin, so Su Luo, feeling obsessive, couldn't resist some morning exercise, almost making him late. Fortunately, being young, he recovered quickly, or today's warm-up match would have been challenging.

His teammates made way for him to see the bulletin board. The schedule for the new Bundesliga season had been released!

"Really?" Su Luo said, noticing the buzz among his teammates.

Union Berlin's first opponent was a familiar one: the Bundesliga opener on August 15th, Union Berlin vs. Bayern Munich!

"Wow, the Bundesliga officials sure know how to stir things up," Su Luo thought. "But it's understandable. With the growing influence of the Premier League and La Liga, the Bundesliga needed a big opener to attract fans."

Union Berlin, the new champions from last season, were set to challenge Bayern Munich, the traditional powerhouse.

"Su, how do you feel about this?" Quinine asked cautiously.

Su Luo, however, smiled happily. "Interesting, very interesting! Don't you think? Only Bayern Munich can truly ignite our spirits."

After a long holiday, Su Luo's competitive fire was burning brightly. He couldn't wait to face Bayern!
