Chapter 210 Full Power To Rule The Premier League! The Only Opponent Is Manchester City!

As the end of July approached, with less than a month before the new Premier League season, Chelsea's pre-season performances were mediocre. They had managed 3 wins and 2 draws in their 5 warm-up matches, which was nothing exceptional.

Fortunately, Rudiger had joined the team, adding much-needed strength to the defense. Originally, the team had four central defenders: Zouma, Terry, David Luiz, and Gary Cahill. Zouma, having recovered from an earlier injury, was unfortunately sidelined once more, expected to be out for over a month. Gary Cahill's form had also declined significantly, with frequent basic mistakes. Without Rudiger, the 36-year-old Terry would have been left to shoulder much of the defensive responsibility.

The Premier League was about to begin, and Chelsea's opening opponents were the defending champions Leicester City. The match would serve as a real test for the nearly restructured Chelsea squad.

With the season opener set for August 16 and a UEFA Champions League qualifying match against Steaua Bucharest on August 17, Conte decided to rotate his squad. The main lineup would focus on the Premier League opener, while the second team would handle the Champions League match. This first game would set the tone for the entire season, making it crucial.

Three days before Chelsea's Premier League opener, the first game of the season kicked off with Hull City taking on Leicester City. Leicester City, missing key players Mahrez and Kanté, fell 1-2 to Hull City, marking a shaky start for the champions. The Premier League seemed to be returning to the dominance of traditional powerhouses.

Manchester United defeated Bournemouth 3-1, Manchester City edged out Sunderland 2-1, Arsenal and Liverpool engaged in a thrilling 3-4 battle that saw Arsenal lose, and Tottenham secured a 1-0 win over Everton. With the big teams showing their strength, the pressure was on Chelsea to perform.

Chelsea's opening game was against West Ham, another London team. In the pre-match press conference, Chelsea's new coach, Conte, addressed the media's concerns about Su Luo:

"I don't understand the criticism. How can you judge Su Luo's ability before seeing him play? We should evaluate him based on his actual performance."

"I am confident that Chelsea will beat West Ham at home. You will soon see how strong Su Luo really is."

Despite Conte's assurances, the media remained skeptical. West Ham's coach, Bilic, who had a rock-star persona, took a dismissive stance:

"I'm eager to see how strong Su Luo truly is. If he can't handle us, it will be quite embarrassing for Chelsea."

"Our goal this season is not just to avoid relegation but to secure European qualification. Chelsea is just a stepping stone for us!"

With both coaches making bold statements, anticipation built up for the match.

Chinese fans had eagerly awaited Su Luo's debut. They had seen Ronaldo in the European Cup and Messi in the Copa America, but Su Luo's performance was yet to be witnessed. CCTV had resumed Premier League broadcasts, but scheduling conflicts meant many fans opted for online platforms. LeTV, which secured the Premier League broadcasting rights, had seen its user numbers soar.

Finally, the day everyone had been waiting for arrived. Fans set their alarms for 2:30 AM to catch the 3:00 AM match. The screen soon featured a close-up of Su Luo, the star of the game.

"Welcome to the first round of the 2016-2017 English Premier League!"

"Before Chelsea's match, the other traditional powerhouses had already won their games."

"Su Luo, who transferred to Chelsea this summer for a record 155 million euros, is making his debut!"

"Chelsea also brought in Conte as their new coach. Their sole goal this season is the championship!"

"The teams have taken the field, and Su Luo's Premier League debut is about to begin!"

As the game started, Chelsea, playing at home, demonstrated dominant pressure. Leicester City, weakened by the absence of Mahrez and Kanté, struggled against Chelsea's aggressive tactics. They were forced to defend and counterattack, unable to effectively transition from defense to offense.

Chelsea's high press was relentless. Su Luo, Lukaku, and Ajar created constant threats, while the midfield cut off Leicester City's long passes. The defending champions struggled to cross their own half.

"Cesc Fabregas passes to Su Luo, who cuts inside from the right, while Moses advances on the right wing."

"Moses crosses decisively! Lukaku misses his header!"

"Ajar retrieves the ball on the other side and crosses back in an inverted triangle!"

"Su Luo! A sudden move to the left, a clean shot!"

"The ball is blocked by Huth's outstretched foot..."

"Albrighton attempts a counterattack but is intercepted by Kante. Chelsea retains possession!"

"Pass to Su Luo! He sends a through ball! Ajar is on it!"

"In the 11th minute of the first half, Chelsea breaks through Leicester City's defense!"

"Su Luo's clever assist helps Ajar score! Chelsea leads 1-0!"

"Chelsea continues to dominate with over 80% possession!"

"Su Luo takes a shot from outside the penalty area! Schmeichel makes a save!"

"Chelsea earns their 3rd corner of the half!"

"Ajar takes the corner, Lukaku tries to head it in!"

"Su Luo is positioned perfectly! A stunning heel shot finds the net!"

"In the 15th minute, Chelsea extends their lead!"

"Su Luo scores his 16th Premier League goal of the season, just eight games in!"

Su Luo maintained an astonishing scoring efficiency in the Premier League, with an average of two goals per game, a feat even Messi and Ronaldo struggled to match.

"Fantastic efficiency! This young man from China is making the entire Premier League take notice!" Sky Sports commentator Martin Taylor exclaimed.

Having covered the Premier League for 20 years, Taylor had never seen such efficiency.

Gary Neville marveled at Su Luo's performance:

"This year's Ballon d'Or is definitely within Su Luo's grasp. Despite Ronaldo's European Cup win and Messi's Copa America runner-up, their individual performances pale in comparison."

Carragher, who rarely agreed with Neville, concurred:

"Given Su Luo's current form, it would be hard to justify him not winning the Ballon d'Or."

In the first 15 minutes, Su Luo had made an impact with a goal and assist. His performance was far from over.

"The 3-4-3 formation allows Su Luo to receive consistent support up front, making him highly effective."

"Another powerful shot from 25 meters out embarrassed Schmeichel!"

"Chelsea continues their relentless attack..."

"Ajar, struggling to break through from the left, passes to Kante, Fabregas, and Su Luo. Su Luo suddenly moves the ball to the right!"

"Lukaku! A close-range header!"

"Lukaku's header lacked preparation, and the ball went straight at Schmeichel."

"Su Luo's crosses are so precise that even his teammates struggle to keep up."

"The ball returns to Su Luo. He cuts inside and takes a left-footed shot from outside the area!"

"This low shot is quite threatening! Schmeichel dives to save it!"

"Chelsea earns their 5th corner!"

Su Luo's constant pressure on Leicester City's defense left them struggling to cope. Vardy was unable to find a chance, showcasing the effectiveness of Chelsea's new formation.

Ajar takes the corner, and David Luiz heads the ball, which is punched away by Schmeichel and falls outside the penalty area. Su Luo, waiting outside, intercepts the ball.

"Su Luo with a stunning backheel shot from the edge of the area!"

The "drinking brother" Drinkwater was caught off guard by Su Luo's unexpected skill. The ball took a bizarre curve and found the back corner of the net, leaving Schmeichel no chance.

The Stamford Bridge crowd erupted with excitement!

"Goooooooal!!"

"Su Luo's unsolvable backheel strike!"

"Without a doubt, this is the goal of the month!"

"Chelsea leads 3-0!"

At Manchester City's Etihad Training Centre, the players gathered in the conference room to watch the Chelsea game on a large projection screen.

Guardiola had hoped that Chelsea's performance would motivate Manchester City. They had been struggling in training recently and were set to face Everton away the next day. If Chelsea had drawn or lost to Leicester City, it might have lifted Manchester City's spirits.

However, Guardiola's plan backfired. Su Luo's brilliant goal only seemed to demoralize the Manchester City players.

De Bruyne, watching intently, said with a hint of disbelief, "He's still so strong."

Grealish shrugged, "What did you expect? This is Su Luo. Scoring difficult goals is nothing new for him."

"Looks like Chelsea will be tough to beat this season," he added.

Guardiola sighed. It seemed that stopping Chelsea would require more direct action.

By early December, Chelsea faced Manchester City in a crucial match. Defeating City was vital for Chelsea to maintain their lead in the championship race.

In the game against Leicester City, Chelsea had established dominance early on. The defending champions struggled, and their performance was hampered by their Champions League commitments. Conte's 3-4-3 formation proved highly effective.

Chelsea continued to dominate in the second half. Su Luo assisted Lukaku twice, scoring in the 56th and 69th minutes. Lukaku scored two headers, and Fabregas added another goal with an assist to Ajar.

The match ended with a stunning 6-0 victory for Chelsea, putting an end to Leicester City's miracle run.

Conte's tactical switch to the 3-4-3 had yielded remarkable results. The previous 4-2-3-1 formation might not have achieved the same level of dominance. With so many players injured, Conte's innovative approach had turned out to be the right answer.

Chelsea's start to the season was impressive: 8 consecutive victories, 32 goals scored, only 4 conceded, and they topped the Premier League. Their average of 4 goals per game had shaken the whole of Europe.

Su Luo himself had an outstanding record, with 17 goals and 11 assists, leading both the top scorer and assists lists in the Premier League.

The headline on the front page of The Sun read: "The Premier League Enters the Chinese Era!"

The Manchester Evening News noted: "Only Manchester City can challenge Chelsea. This season's championship will be decided between these two teams!"

After their victory over Leicester City, Chelsea traveled to Germany for their third Champions League group stage match, facing Bayer Leverkusen at their home ground.

Leverkusen fans were both excited and apprehensive. "The devil is back! The Chinese star is returning!"

Su Luo, excited to be back in Germany, was eager to return to the Bayer Arena, a place he knew well. He looked forward to catching up with Erica, who was training with Leverkusen.

Compared to the glamorous models in London nightclubs, Erica's athleticism and familiarity were a welcome change. Su Luo couldn't wait to reconnect with her and reminisce about old times.
