As per her words, Victoria had been waiting for him but in true Victoria fashion, she was waiting for him by his car to make sure that he did not escape.
Eugene stood behind the car and had a slightly apologetic expression instead of her usual nonchalant face. She had tried, but his aunt had strong-armed her.
"I have instructed the driver to go to the manor. We will be arriving there shortly. Do not leave." Victoria warned. "Or would you rather I come with you?"
Brandon would have taken a deep breath, but he knew what that would signify. He did not want his nervousness to be seen. "I think I will be fine by myself being driven home. I will wait for you there."
He kept his eyes leveled with hers, pulling every bit of courage in his body before she sidestepped him, allowing him to get inside the car. Brandon threw the door open as patiently as possible before getting inside.
Just as he closed the door, he let out a small breath of relief.
Eugene climbed in beside him. "I don't know what you're thinking, but those two are going to chew you alive for whatever your grandfather has left you."
Brandon shook his head, thinking about it. His grandfather has been adamant about leaving everything equally. Or at least giving it to who deserved it the most. If anything, he would bet his money on the former option.
But even if it was equal, his aunts were going to fight for what was his anyway.
"I can only hope it is ironclad." He murmured under his breath. Otherwise, his aunt knew that he was not going to fight for it and he would choose to be a coward. They were not wrong.
Since it was a workday, the streets were quite clear at this time of the day. They reached the manor in record time and aunt Annabel was already here with her son, James.
James sneered in his direction as Brandon walked inside. Ignoring him was the best, so he just looked away.
Mr. Edward Philip was the family lawyer, and he was going to be the one to read everything that was written in his grandfather's wedding. Once his aunt Victoria arrived, everyone was seated down.
The lawyer Philip was sitting in the middle, with Brandon on one side and his aunts on another. It looked like it was going to be a showdown, like the two of them were on different sides, and they were.
It slightly scared him.
"I do not have to declare why we are here today," Philip gave his aunts a look, "there is a reason we have kept this right after the funeral."
"It is important to know what our father wanted to happen with his estate as soon as possible. We must take care of his last wishes." Aunt Annabel said, adding a little dramatic sniff in the end.
"I see." Philip dryly noted, adding a nod with it.
He opened his briefcase and pulled out the first file before he started to read it.
"It is hereby important to note, that everything stated in this world cannot be challenged until all three recipients challenged it altogether. Whatever is written here, cannot and will be challenged and will be delivered as it is said to be."
Brandon felt a slight shiver down his body, if anything it screamed that whatever was written in the will, was going to be challenged by his aunts the moment they heard it.
