Chapter 132: A perfect act

Kai walked with rapid steps up the stairs leading to the school rooftop, with a bit of anxiety wrapping around his heart.

The message he had sent to Hina was clear: they needed to talk immediately.

Step by step, his mind kept wondering who these hooded guys were.

He had to talk to Hina.

Finally, after some minutes of "running", Kai arrived at the rooftop.

A cool breeze welcomed him as he pushed open the door, letting it close behind him with a quiet thud.

He looked around the rooftop to check if there was someone, but luckily no one was there.

Kai was alone, maybe.

He also didn't have to wait long.

Almost immediately, Hina arrived, stepping onto the rooftop with her usual confidence and an almost worried look on her face.

Her sharp gaze locked onto him, and Kai could tell right away that this wouldn't be a casual conversation.

"Finally, you're here," Kai exhaled, trying to steady his breath. "Something weird is going on outside the school. A class mate of mine told me that some hooded men lurking around like they were looking for someone. I think that we gotta-" He said, with a worried voice.

But before he could continue, Hina cut him off abruptly.

"Oh, so now you're making up things just to stop me from thinking you're fooling around with other girls?" she said, her voice filled with an unexplainable irritation.

Kai blinked, completely caught off guard. "What…? What are you talking about?"

Hina crossed her arms, her eyes glinting with what seemed like genuine fury.

"I've heard rumors, you know," she continued, her tone sharp. "People are saying you were getting way too friendly with the new arrival and other girls from the class 3-A. And guess what? I saw it with my own eyes." Hina added, with a very angry voice.

But there was something "strange" about her tone.

It didn't sound like other times when she was really angry.

Kai saw her fury and how she's capable of killing people.

He stared at her, his confusion growing by the second.

"Hina, wait—let me explain—" He tried to say.

But before he could even finish his sentence—

SLAP!

His girlfriend just hit him in the face.

The force of the slap turned his head to the side.

The sharp sound echoed in the quiet rooftop, only accompanied by the whispering wind.

Kai stood frozen for a moment with his eyes open wide, his cheek stinging from the impact.

Slowly, he lifted his gaze to meet Hina's.

"What the fuck...?!" That's what Kai had thought.

She looked straight at him, her expression cold and unwavering.

"Do whatever you want, but don't try to fool me, Kai. I'm going, bye." she spat bitterly before turning on her heel and walking away without another glance.

Kai just stood there, completely dumbfounded, watching her disappear through the rooftop door.

In an instant, milions of thoughts and questions lingered in his mind.

"Did I do something wrong? What happened? What have I done? Why did she slap me? Am I really the wrong one? Did I really met other girls and made her jealous? When?"  Too many things to explain.

Then, after a few moments of silence…

A smirk tugged at his lips.

"Of course…" Kai said to himself.

Everything suddenly clicked.

She had done it on purpose.

It was all part of a plan.

There were spies watching them.

Hina had figured it out and played the part of the jealous girlfriend perfectly, making their relationship look unstable to anyone keeping an eye on them.

Kai ran a hand over his still-warm cheek and shook his head with a quiet chuckle.

"Clever as always, Hina…"

Five minutes passed in silence.

Kai remained there, lost in thought, the wind tousling his hair.

Then, a soft voice broke through the quiet.

"Kai-kun… can we talk?"

Kai turned sharply.

Standing near the rooftop door was Emi Fujimoto.

Her face seemed to be sad, but her eyes…

Her eyes told a completely different story.

Kai stared at her, trying to decipher her intentions.

Something about her… felt off...
