Trapped in Darkness

As Isabel continued to console me, I tried to absorb the gravity of the state of affairs. The room felt suffocating, my thoughts swirling in a chaotic typhoon. Just then, the door creaked open and Eileen, another captive who had usually saved herself, walked in, in search of a remedy from Dr. Reyes.

Eileen iced over at the edge, her eyes widening as she caught the tail stop of our verbal exchange. Her gaze flickered between the tears on my face, Isabel's reassuring grip, and Rosa's resolute stance.

"What's happening?" Eileen requested her voice to be a mix of interest and situation.

Isabel and Rosa exchanged a brief appearance, silently debating how to expose a good deal. Isabel stood up, her posture nerve-racking. "Eileen, this isn't a very good time. Dr. Reyes is simply down the corridor; he can see you currently."

Eileen hesitated, truly torn. "I overheard… Jacqueline's pregnant?" Her voice was slightly a whisper, but it carried a heavy weight.
