Crossroads of Trust and Loyalty

Realizing she had no choice, Jacqueline stepped out from the back of the corner, her face flushed with embarrassment. "I… I didn't suggest eavesdropping. I heard Anna crying and I became worried."

 

Ethan's expression barely softened, but there was still a touch of suspicion in his eyes. "It's not barely softened you to hide, Jacqueline. What's going on?"

 

Jacqueline took a deep breath, looking at her regularly. "I overheard your conversation with Anna. I'm simply looking to understand what's taking place. Why are you so worried about this? Why do you care so much about her?"

 

Ethan sighed, glancing again in the direction of Anna's room earlier than specializing in Jacqueline. "Jacqueline, that is more complicated than you recognize. Anna's in a real problem, and she needs our help."
