Blind Man and the Turning Point

I'm 31 years old now. I joined this profession when I was 17 and have been at it for 14 years. Now, married with children, I've decided to retire. What I'm about to share are all my personal experiences from the past 14 years. First, you need to believe that our profession truly exists, though we tend to keep a low profile. If you dig deep enough in your city, you'll definitely find my colleagues. After lurking online for a long time, I've seen and heard a lot. Some methods provided useful hints for my work, but many were incorrect.

Today, by sharing these experiences, I'm breaking the unspoken rules of our profession. My aim is to clarify the concept of the paranormal for those who are unsure about it. Hopefully, this will help you avoid scaring or harming yourselves with incorrect methods in the future.

I'll write slowly, and you can read at your own pace. I won't answer your questions directly. If you understand and know how to deal with the situations I describe, that's enough. Of course, I know many will think I'm just making things up. Believe it or not, it's up to you.

My entry into this field was purely accidental. Like many, I was a troublemaker in school, dropped out, and started hanging out with a rough crowd, gambling, playing arcade games, smoking, drinking, and fighting. Until I was 17, I truly lived like a kid.

That year, I caused some trouble. My superstitious family believed I was possessed by a spirit and invited a Taoist priest to perform rituals and prayers to exorcise the spirit. Due to my rebellious nature, I ran away from home, traveling from Chongqing to Kunming.

On the train, I met a blind man who became the key to my entry into this field. He introduced me to a renowned master in Kunming, who later became my mentor. At 17, my life changed drastically.

The process of becoming an apprentice isn't worth detailing. My master taught me one principle: righteousness, human compassion, eradicating evil, and doing good. Frankly, this job isn't done for free; we charge quite a bit.

My master spent a long time changing my disbelief in ghosts. He carried only a few items: a pair of dice, a compass, a dozen red strings, a wrinkled book, and something you wouldn't expect—a handful of soil from a grave.

Even after learning scriptures and incantations daily, I never truly believed in ghosts until I saw these items in action. Countless times, I asked my master if ghosts really existed. He said they did, but not many. I guess that's why our services are expensive.

At first, I thought my master was just a fraud. But in 1998, we went to Guizhou on a commission from a local wealthy man. That's when my worldview changed.

This wealthy man in Kaili City, Guizhou, owned several properties and had built an ostentatious house in his hometown to show off. However, strange things began happening after he moved in. He hired villagers to clean, take care of the fish, and keep watch at night. One woman started having recurring nightmares and eventually went mad, constantly muttering "Don't hit… don't hit…"

Rumors spread in the village about disturbing the land deity or cutting old tree roots. A brave young man volunteered to keep watch but soon became confused and incoherent. The wealthy man realized something was wrong, dismissed the workers, locked up the house, and sought our help.

My master negotiated a fee of 66,000 yuan. We arrived at the house, and my master conducted rituals, using the compass and other tools to determine the location of disturbances. He buried a red string with grave soil in a specific spot and instructed us to stay in the haunted room overnight. I was scared but followed his instructions.

Around 2 AM, I felt an unsettling presence. My master told me to turn around and look at my feet, using peripheral vision to see the figure of an old man in a long robe, muttering, "This is my bed." My master intervened, using the soil and red string to banish the spirit. The ritual was simple yet effective.

Afterwards, we met the wealthy man, performed a final ritual with the soil and red string, and he was satisfied. My master reassured me that the rituals were mostly psychological, emphasizing the importance of helping people rather than hunting ghosts.

That night marked the beginning of my understanding of this world. Over the years, I've encountered various paranormal phenomena and grown accustomed to this life. We've dealt with malicious spirits, helped fulfill the wishes of ghosts, exorcised possessed individuals, summoned spirits, and even dug up graves.

There's so much more. If you're interested, I'll continue to share my stories.
