Chapter 19

Later that day, as Luna made her way to the library, Luca caught up to her. "Luna, wait up," he called, his voice tinged with frustration.

Luna sighed, knowing what was coming. She turned to face him, her expression already showing her irritation. "What is it, Luca?"

He didn't waste any time. "You need to break off the engagement with Leonardo. This isn't right, and you know it."

Luna's patience was wearing thin. "Why do you care so much? You've got a new toy to play with, remember? Why don't you leave me alone and focus on her?"

Luca looked momentarily confused. "What are you talking about?"

Recognition flickered in Luca's eyes as he remembered the gossip he'd overheard. He frowned, his irritation doubling. "This has nothing to do with Lila. It's about you being forced into something you don't want."

"Forced?" Luna snapped, her voice rising. "You think I don't know that? But I'm dealing with it, Luca. Unlike you, I can handle my responsibilities."

"Responsibilities?" Luca scoffed. "You call this a responsibility? It's a prison, Luna. And you don't have to accept it."

Luna's annoyance turned to anger. "You don't get to decide what I accept or not. If you're so concerned about my well-being, why don't you stop harassing me and let me handle my life?"

Luca opened his mouth to retort but then closed it, his jaw tight. The tension between them crackled in the air, neither willing to back down.

Without warning, Luca stepped forward and kissed her. For a moment, Luna was too surprised to react. Then, she pushed him away, her eyes wide with shock and anger.

"What the hell, Luca?" she spat, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.

"Fine," he said finally, his voice low and angry. "But don't say I didn't warn you." With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Luna standing there, her emotions a tangled mess of frustration, anger, and a lingering sense of betrayal.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. Luca's constant interference was exhausting, but she refused to let him see how much it affected her. She had enough to worry about without adding his rants to the mix.
