THE TIME WARRIOR

Hello, my name is Björn and I am writing this letter to leave you my travel story. Since this just happened for me, maybe you know me; I will try my best to make you do so in the future where you are and, because someone like me is talking about the future well, let me tell you about my journey.

It all started after I conquered a village attached to the coast of France. I was heading elsewhere in my drakkar with my companions. This is a light and fast ship that transported us very efficiently. I spent several minutes on the ship sailing to reach my homeland.

After a great conquest, all I wanted was to rest, but it seems that day the gods did not want me to rest. A storm appeared out of nowhere forming a thick fog. In my thoughts I was thinking that Loki was playing a trick on us when a strong wave started to rock us. I fell off the boat and began to sink into the cold waters where we were sailing, and my consciousness gradually disappeared.

I don't know how much time had passed, but when I opened my eyes I was in a strange place; it wasn't the sea; I was in a forest. I thought this was Valhalla; I was sad because I thought I had died, but I was relieved to think that the gods had rewarded me with tremendous honor. After wandering around this place, I realized that I was in error: this was not Valhalla, for when I managed to get out of the forest I saw in the distance huge mountains made of a very shiny material (I later learned that they were called skyscrapers).

I had arrived at a very strange place; intrigued, I headed there. I walked for several hours to get there and when I finally arrived it was a huge place. There were several of those mountains and smaller mountains that looked like houses and also a kind of metallic beast (later I would know them as cars). I quickly caught the attention of the people who lived in that place, since I was taller than them and my clothes were strange for them, as they wore very strange clothes for me.

A person with a strange blue suit approached me (later I learned that he was a policeman) to ask me something, but I did not understand anything, he spoke a different language than mine; confused I did not know what to answer, it was only babbling that I understood. Already furious, I slapped him and sent him flying a couple of meters away. The people in the place got scared and started to run. Some of them had strange objects holding them close to their ears. The guy I hurt pulled out a metal object from his belt that he had and pointed it at me. Then I heard a loud sound and, before I knew it, my left arm hurt. That thing had hurt me. A warrior known for never getting a scratch in battle. I was perplexed and, without further ado, I just went running quickly to that guy, managing to dodge what he was throwing at me.

I thought it was magic; I managed to hit myself once more, but in the end it only took one fist of mine to knock him out. I grabbed the object and began to analyze it to see how such a powerful weapon could have hurt me. After a while, many of those metallic monsters with lights on their heads appeared and more people came out of them, like the guy I had managed to defeat, and they took out their metallic objects aiming at me. At that moment my instinct screamed at me to run away. I, a powerful warrior, had to flee from that place; it was something shameful for me, but I had no other choice. Unable to communicate, I didn't know what else to do, so I quickly retreated, dropping the metallic object I was looking at.

They started shooting at me with whatever that thing was, but thanks to my skills I managed to get out of that place. I realized that with my current outfit I would attract a lot of attention, so I ran and jumped through some of those weird half-constructions to avoid the other blue guys. I managed to move a great distance and so I got further into the center of the place where I was. Everything was weird; metallic monsters running around these places and people with strange clothes and objects in their hands kept looking at those objects, they even bumped into me for looking at those things (later I would know them as cell phones). I didn't know what to do in a place like this.

Suddenly a metal bird flew by in the skies and I said to myself where the hell did I get to. I quickly took a big leap and arrived on top of one of those buildings that were not so high. I realized that my strength had undergone a change. I had more strength than I remembered before I fell into the sea. I sat down on a corner of the roof where I was to analyze things well. I did not know where I was, nor did I know what I should do, and sunk in my thoughts I was seized by the night.

In the darkness of the night, all the places were lit up with a wonderful glow. How was it possible that in the pitch dark I could see as if it were daytime? I was shocked; suddenly I noticed a structure somewhat familiar to me; it was like a coliseum where wrestling matches were held in Rome. Intrigued, I ran to that place, dodging the metallic monsters. When I reached that place, I climbed up the walls to see inside and was surprised, as it was not what I expected.

Inside that place were metallic monsters running at such a great speed that they looked like they were creatures of the gods. By this point, I was beginning to give up hope of finding anything to help me get home. I got down from where I was and grouped with the people who were in that place; they watched those beasts run, then they all stared at me and whispered things I didn't understand and pointed at me with those square things they had in their hand.

I felt sad thinking that I would never return to my place. With nothing more to lose, I decided to jump to the place where those beasts were to end my life. I didn't know what else to do; maybe if I die in battle with those things, this time they would let me go to Valhalla; I knew in me that it was suicide to face those beasts, but I didn't know what else to do.

Before I threw myself into that place, they were all watching me and pointing their square things at me. I just uttered a few words in my language which were "glory and honor" and proceeded to throw myself at the site of those beasts. The moment I jumped, a few words in my language, was thrown into my ears; I remember that word saying, "Who are you?". Quickly in the air, I turned to see who uttered them and it was a gentleman in a black suit... I wanted to talk to him, but it was too late. I had jumped and fell hard to the place where those metal beasts were. The monsters hit me, pushing me aside and I fell to my knees.

The moment I raised my head, one of them was heading towards me, but before it hit me it started to stop. It managed to stop a few feet from my face. From one moment to the next some words that I didn't understand started to sound and all the metallic monsters started to stop. To tell the truth, at that point I was already very tired, I had not eaten anything and mentally I was very dazed. Without further ado, I fell to the floor passed out and, before I closed my eyes, I saw how the person in black was approaching me and whispered in my ear some words in my language that said "everything is going to be ok" and then I fainted.

I woke up in a kind of bed, but this one was more comfortable than the many beds I had slept in. I quickly realized that I was tied to a bed with some metal things. I thought aloud what these things were and the answer was given to me by the same character who had spoken to me some time before in my language. He told me that they were called handcuffs and were an instrument to restrain people like shackles. All this, of course, he told me in my language. Surprised, I gave him a smirk and, with a jerk, broke those things, and he was amazed and clapped his hands. Puzzled, I asked him who he was and he basically told me that he was a manager in charge of setting up fights for people to enjoy. He asked me about me and I told him my whole story of where I was from and who I was.

After hearing my story, this person gave me a choice whether I wanted to participate in the fights as a fighter and it would give me a lot of knowledge of this era or die at the hands of the men in blue. Without further ado, I chose the former, since I was a warrior after all. He had me locked up in one of those mountains that I was unfamiliar with and explained everything I had to learn about this era. He told me the concept of every word and told me that this was the future, that I had traveled in time. I didn't know how I got to this time and I didn't know how to get back. This guy who is called NORD also has Nordic blood in his veins, that's why he knows my language. He told me that we were in a country called the United States and that the language here was English. Time passed and with a lot of effort I learned the language and a few other things. I had already spent about 2 years in this place and my life was starting to adjust more to my current reality, but deep down I missed my old reality.

Without further ado, after training all the basics, this man became a great companion and helped me to integrate. At this time he gave me a job as a kind of fighter in a fighting arena, which they called "MMA". I felt great to be able to fight with strong people, but no one was a match for me, and more that I was not allowed to kill anyone, as it was the rules of their world. I didn't say anything, but I felt frustrated. In the end I was unstoppable and so my life was taking more sense. By this point in my life I had become well known; thank goodness my altercation with the cops in the beginning didn't go any further. My manager, who is NORD, helped me out of that problem, of course, hiding my past. And so the days went by, then months and years; I was someone very important in these fights, so much so that they put a statue of me at the main entrance of the ring, since in all my years I was still undefeated. NORD told me that I had superhuman strength and that is why I was unstoppable. Maybe it was blessings from my gods or maybe...umm, who knows.

Time passed and I had it all and could take on anyone; there was no one to surpass me, but inside I was sad that my comrades and family would never know my current self. I missed my old days very much. One day, after finishing a 3-on-1 confrontation because yes, only then could they give me a fight, I was in my suite (by this time my words were more fluent and I understood everything modern) and I was looking at the stars on the balcony of my room with only a robe on, wondering what happened to my old friends. Annoyed by this situation, I decided to challenge the gods; I cursed Odin for bringing me to such a place, as I would never see the blood of my enemies again because in this place I was deprived of killing. I know I am comfortable here, but I did not feel happy. I was a warrior, but in this place I cannot die at the hands of my enemies because of the rules that lie here.

After mentioning these words, the sky began to turn black and clouds began to form above my building. Frightened that I might have angered the gods, I tried to enter my room again, but a lightning bolt stopped me, which threw me backwards, breaking the balcony. I quickly tried to stand up, but another bolt of lightning struck me and I flew through the air, falling into nothingness. As I fell, a mist began to come out of nowhere and I could only watch as I began to approach the ground while all the things around me disappeared. Just as my face was about to hit the ground, I felt something icy go through my whole body. It was cold water.

I opened my eyes and I was without clothes; I was in a huge ocean; quickly a hand came out of nowhere and pulled me to the surface and I realized it was my comrades from that day when I fell off the boat. They were shocked and asked me about my clothes because I was naked; I just shrugged my shoulders in response. After a couple of seconds, a mate brought me some spare clothes. Confused, I asked how long I was in that sea and was told it must have been a couple of minutes. I was confused because I had no proof of the immense journey I had made; I kept quiet, but in me I knew it had all been real, since the language I had learned was still there. After arriving at my destination, I talked to my father and told him my story. They almost thought I was crazy; after that I learned to keep quiet for my own good. My story was quiet, but it will remain in my heart. Now I write all this so that someday someone will read it and be surprised by my adventures.

In the end I decided to leave this story and hope that someday someone will read it and get to see that even in the most fearful adversity there will always be a way out. Maybe, just maybe, my statue will live on in the future and I will do many exploits so that in the future I will be remembered forever. This has been all from me. Best of luck to you, wishes the survivor of the past.
