A Place to Crash for the Night

Lolchess's turn arrived. She stepped forward to a guard, who extended her hand to receive the pass. Without a word, Lolchess pulled a coin engraved with symbols from her pocket and presented it.

The guard's eyes widened in surprise for a moment, then her demeanor changed instantly: she straightened up and slightly inclined her head in respect.

"Welcome, Lidja." Her voice was softer, almost reverent. "Have you traveled far, Lidja?"

Lolchess nodded gently. "I come from Guider."

The guard blinked, surprised. "Guider?" she repeated, a flash of astonishment crossing her face. "But... why come here?" She hesitated for a moment before continuing, visibly puzzled. "You're heading to the capital for the event, aren't you?"

"Indeed," Lolchess replied.

"Why take such a long detour to reach the capital, Lidja?" the guard pressed, clearly baffled.
