Of Cowards and Unsaid Words

A week had passed since the events at the party. Paco, the coward, ran away and took his first ever vacation. There hadn't been a single piece of news from him this entire time. Nelly sighed again, having lost count herself long ago.

There were four guests in her room, all the color maids collected together in one array. Tea was served, with some simple salty snacks to go with it. Nelly was in her silken pajamas, lazing long in to the Sunday morning.

"How many times are you going to sigh miss?" Yellow said, not finishing the sentence completely before shoving another baked good in her mouth. She like the rest of the maids were wearing civilian clothes, all in different levels of comfort and effort.

"I mean gosh, how does he run away like that. Yellow you said he was acting suspicious the second Kabek entered the picture." Nelly said leaning forward, about to bite her nails, but thinking better of it.

"As she said before yes, it does seem like he had something on his mind." Red said sipping on her third cup of tea, nonchalant about having to repeat the same conversation over again.

"He knows me, he knows I wouldn't be an ass about it if he told me. We had a good healthy work relationship, the kind that would have lasted a few unanswered feelings." Nelly kept on ranting, the others nodding along, repeating lines they had said prior.

Paco wasn't the only problem child she kept rattling on about. Kabek hadn't proven much better than the hideaway Paco. Kabek hadn't shown himself either, but at least he had sent something her way, as a sort of apology. A joke of one, he had sent a leash and collar. Was he playing it dirty or did he just insinuate that he was a good boy not pulling at his leash. Whatever his idea had been, didn't stop Nelly from whining about his antics.

In the middle of another sentence something struck a cord in Nelly's brain. "Girls… You are much smarter than those two hooligans, so you would just tell me if you have fallen for me, right? Spare us the trouble of dancing the stupid game." Red almost choked on her tea, when falling for Nelly was mentioned. A heavy blush rolled over her cheeks like thunderclouds.

Yellow prattled with her mouth full and none could make heads or tails, so she started shaking her hands wildly, as if that would help them understand. Nelly mouth hang agape and quickly covered it up with her hands, mumbling how sorry she was about her words. Red took a second to gather herself before speaking.

"I realized it when you had started dating Gideon." Red said face matching her ribbon. Green quickly changed seats to get closer to Red and held her hand. She didn't seem surprised, more like a confidant there to support. "Took me a year to come to terms that I cared for you, more than my position was supposed to." Red continued and shook like a leaf in autumn winds, trying her best to hold herself together. Nelly felt so awful for Red, she didn't mean to put them on a spot like this.

Blue was glaring at Nelly, mouthing 'look what you did'. Nelly had no idea how Kabek dealt with this on a regular basis, even once was too much, she felt her soul wanting to rip apart. There were no word that came to her, no idea how she was going to fix this, so she had to just let Red let it all out.

"And another year to forget them. I think its in the past." Red said, with a voice so sheer Nelly had to focus all her senses to catch everything. Red opened up a bit more, going in to more detail about her journey through the feelings. If there was anything positive about outing Red, Nelly had a bit more understanding for Paco at this instance. But it was just a little bit she swore to herself.

"I am so, so, so, sorry I put you on the spot like this," Nelly said, bowing her head in shame, after Red had gone silent. Nelly still didn't know in what positions to sit, if she should approach Red or not.

"I'm okay." Red said, smiling like a trooper through the dried up tears. "No really, I am okay. Its good I got to talk about it" Red continued. Nelly sighed in relief and was glad Yellow didn't mention anything about her sighs this time.

"Do you want a hug or how do we settle this?" Nelly said, not knowing if these were the right words, but they were the only ones she could come up with.

"I do have one wish, maybe even a bit of a fantasy I'd wish you'd fulfill" Red said her namesake color warming her cheeks again. "You don't have to of course and it doesn't mean my feelings are back." Red added on hastily, words tripping right in to each other at the speed they were said.

"Of course, anything for a Nelly family member," Nelly said jumping at any opportunity to leave this situation behind them.

"I wish you'd embrace me to be a part of your court." Red said, ears so red they would evaporate water in a second. The other maids gasped at the frankly quite outrageous wish. She would be going the way of Kabek, a permanent part of Nelly's vampiric court.

Nelly soon shared the same shade as the maid who made this request. The vampire was imagining Red in a nightgown, moving her brown hair away from her neck, presenting the vein of all veins. Nelly made this mess, and she had promised to do anything for Red. She told herself she would do this for Red, not for the tempting offer and image in her mind.

"I did say anything," Nelly said hiding her heated face in her hands. She peered through her fingers and saw four maids eagerly waiting for an answer, all leaning in closer to not miss a syllable. "Red, you can come to my bedroom tonight."
