Grom and Salamanda moved swiftly.
In no time, they arrived at the ruins of an ancient site. Standing before the desolation, Salamanda sank into deep contemplation.
After a long silence, she sighed softly.
Once, this ruin had been the birthplace of her siblings and herself. They had grown up here together. But as time passed, events unfolded that led to this place being abandoned. Today, everything was over, completely finished. Faced with this reality, Salamanda didn't know what to say or how to feel, her heart heavy with helplessness.
"Enough."
"Enough," she muttered to herself, shaking her head. "Constantly reminiscing about the past only makes one old. Some things are better left behind. Dwelling on them won't lead to anything good."
She sighed, shaking her head again, as if to free herself from these thoughts. The past was gone. The present and the future—that was what mattered now. She didn't fully understand what had become of her siblings, but one thing was certain: a new chapter in life was about to begin.
"Let's go."
Grom, noticing his sister's state of mind, spoke gently. "Let's go and take one last look. Wendini and Sylph are there. Perhaps this will be our final time visiting this place. Regardless of what happens, the outcome is already set in stone."
"Let's go."
Salamanda agreed without further comment. Words were unnecessary, and thinking too much about it would be pointless. Accepting what was, she followed her brother into the ruins.
The siblings walked at a steady pace through the remnants of the ancient site.
Before long, two figures emerged from the ruins. One was a strikingly beautiful woman with long, ocean-blue hair. Her mature and graceful demeanor exuded warmth and elegance. The other was a petite young boy with green hair, looking about fifteen or sixteen. His shy and delicate appearance gave off the impression that he was easily bullied.
These two were Wendini and Sylph, the remaining siblings of the elemental quartet.
"Salamanda."
"Sister," Wendini and Sylph greeted her with smiles as they saw her approach. Genuine joy lit their faces at the reunion with their sister.
"Second Sister, Little Brother," Salamanda called out, rushing over with concern. "Grom told me you were injured. Are you both okay?"
"Hehehe," Wendini chuckled softly. "We're fine now. Initially, there were a few issues, but thanks to His Majesty's power, they've been resolved."
"But you, Salamanda," Wendini said with a gentle smile, looking at her sister. "You've been asleep for so long. It's time to wake up and stretch those legs. It's been far too long since the four of us gathered together."
"Hmph!" Salamanda snorted, glaring at Grom. "Second Sister, isn't it because of a certain someone that we haven't reunited in all this time?"
Grom took the blame with a serene smile, unaffected by her pointed remarks.
Sylph, ever the peacemaker, spoke up. "Third Sister, Big Brother has already admitted it was his fault. Please don't take it too seriously. After all, we're about to leave."
"Leave…" Salamanda murmured, her tone tinged with helplessness.
She understood her brother's pain. Grom had sincerely dedicated himself to teaching humans, only for humanity to evolve into what it was now. Knowing her brother so well, Salamanda found it impossible to believe he felt nothing about it all.
Although she didn't hold any genuine anger toward Grom, she maintained her habitual demeanor, playfully venting her frustrations. It was simply the way the siblings communicated.
Grom, unbothered by Salamanda's teasing, addressed her calmly. "I made mistakes. I didn't foresee this outcome, and for that, I'm sorry. I've troubled you over the years."
"Hmph!" Salamanda huffed, momentarily stunned by his sincerity. Then, with an air of defiance, she turned to Wendini and hugged her without saying more.
Wendini embraced her younger sister warmly. She understood her better than anyone. Though Salamanda's pride kept her from expressing forgiveness outright, her actions revealed her heart.
"Alright," Wendini said gently, "we've cleared the air. The past is behind us, and there's no need to dwell on it anymore. It's time to leave."
Salamanda sighed softly at the inevitability of it all. Despite feeling as if her siblings were leaving her behind, she accepted that there were things they couldn't yet tell her.
Suddenly, a sinister laugh echoed through the ruins, interrupting their conversation.
Dark purple energy surged in the air, and a skeletal head appeared. Before Salamanda could react, the apparition shot into her body.
Instantly, she was enveloped in purple divine energy, her form radiating its intense power.
"Just as I thought," Wendini remarked with a faint smile. "Our sister was destined to become a perfect Underworld Warrior. The only question was timing."
Grom nodded. "The Earth Illusion Star, Earth Shattering Star, Earth Flying Star, and Earth Craft Star—four Demon Stars descended upon this realm. Three of them chose us as hosts, and now, the fourth has chosen Salamanda. This was inevitable."
As they spoke, the siblings' bodies glowed with the same dark purple light, their Underworld armor manifesting upon them.
When Salamanda's transformation was complete, she turned to them with a resigned shake of her head. "You've been hiding this from me all along, haven't you?"
Wendini smiled apologetically. "Not intentionally, sister. Some truths can only be revealed after you've become an Underworld Warrior."
"Fine," Salamanda sighed, waving dismissively. "I'll forgive you this time, Big Brother, Grom."
Grom and the others smiled warmly, relieved to hear her call him "Big Brother" again. For them, this was the true resolution of old wounds.
"Now then," Wendini said, "it's time to return to the Underworld. We mustn't keep His Majesty waiting."
Dark purple light engulfed the four siblings as they vanished from the small world, leaving it forever changed as it connected to the Underworld.
In the Underworld's Elysium, Hestia beamed with satisfaction. "Four perfect Underworld Warriors of Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind. Everything is proceeding perfectly."
Her laughter filled the air, her joy unmistakable.
