The moment we stepped further into the caverns, the runes on the walls glowed brighter, each casting a distinct hue that seemed to call out to us individually. It was as if the very essence of the cavern had a mind of its own, drawing each of us to separate paths. My heart pounded with a mix of anticipation and dread, knowing that whatever lay ahead was designed specifically for me.
“We have to stay together,” I called out, but even as I said the words, I knew they were futile. The runes’ magic was too strong, too compelling. Each of us was pulled in different directions, like moths to a flame, the glow illuminating hidden corridors and twisting paths.
“I’ll find you again!” Eve shouted, her voice echoing through the cavern as she was drawn down a separate tunnel, her silhouette disappearing into the shadows. The others, too, vanished from sight, leaving me alone in the dim, crystalline passage.
