Jonathan's concern

Shortly after, the dinner came to an end and everyone departed for their respective homes.

Once everyone had left, Eveline went back to her room as well. However, before she could take a step inside, Jonathan called her.

"Going to sleep already?" he asked thoughtfully.

Eveline knew her father wasn't someone who liked speaking his mind, so when he asked her if she was going to sleep, she realized he wanted to talk with her.

Without wasting a second, she shook her head and they both walked inside simultaneously.

Taking the seat on the couch, Jonathan gestured to sit beside him.

Eveline was his precious daughter, someone he loved more than anything in this life. A treasure his wife left before she passed away.

"I wish your mother could be here today. She would have felt more at ease observing everyone's happiness," he said as a glimpse of his wife's smiling face crossed his mind and he smiled.
