Stefan stood near the balcony railing when he felt a presence behind him. He didn't turn, since he knew who it was.
When Nancy approached him, he inquired, "Did they leave already?"
Stefan had already observed the car pulling away, but his mother's words confirmed his suspicions.
"They did, and I believe we won't see them again after today," Stefan observed the melancholy in her tone.
"Are you sad because they won't come again?" he said, watching his mother shake her head.
"No, but the way it all ended wasn't something I imagined."
Nancy never wanted Marcus to be separated from his only family. Whenever Marcus and his parents disagreed, Nancy would try to explain the situation to him, and he would agree to give them another chance. However, after today, Nancy felt that there was nothing she could do to repair the relationship.
"I suppose this was inevitable one day, but I still hoped we received the blessing of our elders in happiness."
