There was a lot for Sherlyn to take in. Kaden's remarks were incomprehensible to her.
'What does it mean to go out with me? As in pals or as in—'
But before Sherlyn could make a decision, her phone rang, interrupting her stream of thoughts.
She promptly let go and took her phone out of her bag. Her eyebrows furrowed as she read the name. "I have to answer this call," she excused herself.
"Yes, Nicole," she replied.
Kaden stood off to the side, watching her. He was shocked at how openly he had asked her out, but he had yet to hear her response.
There was something about this girl that drew her to him, and he was delighted that after all these years, he still had the chance to pursue her.
As he considered her confirmation, his lips curled up. Kaden was interested if she had someone in her life, and when she said she didn't, he didn't feel the need to hold back.
