23. Sup-

Jack waited but nothing happened. "Shit." he sighed, then turned around, asking himself why the others weren't already here.

He stood up with his axe and went ahead between the shelves. Then there was a new blood trail on the passage on his right. He followed it till he reached the second corpse. His eyeball was on the floor with a hole through it, seemingly pierced with an object, then it was pulled out together with the eyeball. This time he picked the eyeball up and let his blood flow on it, then he put it back in place he repeated pouring blood everywhere, but again. Nothing. Jack laughed for a moment in desperation. 'Why didn't it work. It should have worked." Suddenly there was a strong palm on his shoulder. He gripped the axe and wanted to turn around to strike the other when he saw the furious Hunter.

"What do you think you are doing?" he asked while looking at boy nr.2.

Jack didn't know how long he was there and he knew that it maybe didn't look good to others, when someone stuffed a corpse back together. He chuckled "Man, I didn't do something creepy, I wanted to help them."

"Where came the fresh blood from?" Hunter demanded, seeing Jack's bleeding arm he yanked it to himself to have a better look at the wound. "What the fuck!" he cursed, while taking of his hoodie and pressing it on the wound.

Loki and Casper came to them after looking at boy nr.1, and examined boy nr.2.

"What weird fetish do you have for bleeding on corpses?" Casper sneered as he tied his messy ponytail new.

Hunter made a step in his direction, his face tranquil again, but the warning his body transmitted was not to be ignored.

Casper was startled but turned his head away.

Loki himself had read enough novels when he was a teenager. He felt that there was no other answer. "Did you really think you could help like this?" He asked, but there was no sarcasm in his voice so Hunter had no reaction.

"Yeah...sorry." Jack looked at his feet, feeling a bit dumb.

"Let's go, there is till one more we have to find." Loki stood up and pulled out a large sharp knife from his waistband.

Hunter still had his hand pressed on Jack's arm with a death grip. He didn't look again at the patient and tried to fight his anger.

This time they stayed together, walking through the passages. Jack wanted to open a few cupboards on the way, but everytime he tried to distance himself from Hunter, his grip on himself went tighter. He just shrugged and let it be. Casper studied their interaction thoughtfully.

He took it on himself to open the cupboards, on the way. And with Loki's help they searched thoughtfully. When they had only the left, they found boy nr.3 under a shelf, they had been bypassing him a few times but finally found him. He was cold to the bones but he had a pulse and was breathing.

Loki took some water and tilted the boy's head. Still unconscious he drank out of reflex. They finally all breathed a sigh of relief. Loki put boy nr.3 on his back with Casper's help. They made their way back feeling heavy. Who would harm three High schoolers in the apocalypse?

And why?

'There are enemies in this place.' They all thought the same.

They climbed down the window from which they came in and with a bit of difficulty they managed to get boy nr.3 out too. Finally they were on their way back.

Jack whispered to Hunter "I think the wound is healed already." Hunter didn't want to let go, but he also didn't want to go too far, so he reluctantly obliged.

Jack showed him his wound, it was really some new pink flesh on the place of the wound. Hunter released a breath of relief. "What did you want to do?" He said in a low tone.

"I thought my blood could heal them....because of my ability."

"Don't be sup-" He was interrupted by Jack. "I know, I know. But the possibility was there, right? Don't be angry anymore, I won't do it again." Jack smiled at Hunter, who nodded woodenly and was easily coaxed, just like that.
