A mother’s appeal

Wallace took a seat across from his daughter. In his hand was a book. She expressed her desire to speak with him. After she put the twins to bed, she returned to the living room.

He questioned, watching her every motion with his eyes, "What do you want to talk about, Seraphina?"

Before responding, she sucked in her lower lip between her teeth.

"Dad, do you intend to return to work for Patrick?"

With a worried brow, he inquired. "I already told you, yes. Why do you ask?"

"Your new job doesn't pay well? So you..."

"Phina, do you have something you want to say? Go straight to the point."

She was silent for some while before speaking.

She looked at him, waiting for his response, and continued, "Daddy, I am now dating Patrick." There was none on his face. "Daddy."

With a little stern tone, he asked, "Do you mean you've signed another contract with him?" in a composed manner.
