Chapter Forty-One: Remember You, and I Won't Forget Again

Danjun remained silent throughout the banquet, untouched by the sumptuous delicacies laid out before her. After a while, feeling bored, she decided to leave early. The scattered petals were irritating, so she unfolded an oil-paper umbrella to shield herself. The fallen flower petals carpeted the forest path like a floral blanket.

With her petite figure draped under the umbrella, Danjun strolled between rows of orchid trees. Several strings of silver bells attached to her swayed in the wind, emitting a crisp and captivating sound...

A tall, slender figure clad in black stood ahead. Turning against the light, his thick, jet-black hair danced freely in the breeze. Bathed in sunlight, his ebony attire gleamed with a golden sheen, resembling a general adorned in golden armor. At that moment, he seemed less cold and unapproachable, evoking an impulse to embrace him...

"...Big Brother in Black..."

Danjun tightly embraced him. "I thought you wouldn't come back to see me."

Danjun wrapped her arms around his waist, fearing he might slip away again. Despite his sturdy and slender physique, he seemed frail, his slender waist firmly encircled by Danjun.

At first, Unseen was startled. He hadn't expected Danjun to be so unreserved. His body trembled slightly as he attempted to push her away, but she clung even tighter, rendering his arms hanging weakly by his sides.

"I've come to thank you. Thank you for today."

With long, dense lashes veiling his dark and profound eyes, Unseen murmured softly.

So it's just for this! Well, it's okay. At least Big Brother in Black remembers to come back and find me.

A warm liquid trickled down Danjun's cheek, glistening in the sunlight. Like a cat, she rubbed her cheek against Unseen's black attire, then revealed a sweet smile.

"You're too polite, Big Brother in Black. Among friends, there's no need for thanks."

Unseen's cold demeanor was replaced by a look of puzzlement as he glanced down at her.

"Why?"

But Danjun laughed, a smile as gentle as the spring breeze.

She smiled innocently, yet there was a hint of bitterness in her expression.

"Because... Big Brother in Black has never called my name."

A flicker of astonishment flashed in Unseen's eyes. He... had never called her name before?

But now that he thought about it, it seemed true. Despite her presence by his side for so long, making him laugh and play, he had always regarded her as a nuisance.

But who would have thought that one day, he would save this troublesome person...

The orchid trees along the way were lush, their flowers blooming but leaves unseen. When the wind blew, petals fell, landing in the girl's hair bun. A pair of fair but scarred hands gently removed the purple flowers from the girl's hair.

Unseen's narrowed eyes caught sight of the damaged flower. "...Danjun... White Danjun..."

"I remember you. I won't forget you in this lifetime."

Unseen's words were tender, as if melted by the scorching sun, gentle yet untouchable.

Danjun suddenly regretted letting him go earlier. She should have held onto him tightly...
