Chapter Forty-Three: The Falling of the Milky Way

Zisang was about to step forward, but Nan Xianyi stopped her.

"It's very dangerous here. Let me go first."

Nan Xianyi's lips curled into a contemptuous smile as he stylishly tucked back his hair and confidently strode forward.

As soon as his foot touched the wooden plank, the suspension bridge began to tremble slightly, creaking as the wooden boards shifted. Nan Xianyi lost his balance and hurriedly grabbed onto the rope.

Before the bridge could regain its balance, and without Nan Xianyi having a chance to move an inch, it began to sway even more violently.

In the next moment, a fluffy white figure flew past him, reaching the other end of the bridge in just a few steps.

"You, a grown man, are still hesitating to cross a bridge?"

On the other side, Zisang ran while taunting Nan Xianyi.

With Zisang's running speed, the suspension bridge swayed even more violently.

Nan Xianyi clung tightly to the rope, huddled in one place. What was supposed to be a perfect and handsome entrance ended in the most pathetic manner...

A vast expanse of white, rarely seen greenery, although covered in layers of snow, couldn't conceal its vibrant green.

At first, it seemed fresh, and they enjoyed the scenery along the way.

But the further they went, the more sinister and terrifying it became. Crows cawed intermittently, cold winds howled, as if someone was wailing. Dark green trees grew grotesquely, sending shivers down their spines.

Nan Xianyi couldn't help but rub his arms. Zisang hardly spoke along the way, and her expression became even more sorrowful when she saw this scene.

They soon reached their destination.

At the halfway point up the mountain, facing a huge cave entrance, the plaque above was already covered in snow, but you could still make out the three big characters: "Reclining Void Valley."

Looking into the cave mouth, it was as dark as ink.

After much hesitation, Zisang finally gathered the courage to walk inside.

Leaning against a tree, Nan Xianyi gazed into the distance, but his heart was with the person inside the cave.

Zisang didn't want Nan Xianyi to go in with her, saying it was her own business and she wanted to deal with it herself!

His distant gaze darkened again, and his brows furrowed. In the end, she still treated him as an outsider, still kept him isolated from her life...

A blue figure appeared in his peripheral vision, and he looked in that direction. Zisang was walking towards him with light steps.

Underneath her azure robe, her hair was tousled by the wind, and her face, with its gentle smile, and lively eyes sparkled like stars in the sea.

Seeing her smile so happily, as if she had achieved something, Nan Xianyi tried to ask, "Is it over?"

Zisang nodded in response, "Yes! It's over, everything has been resolved."

Her smile was extremely gentle, like the warm winter sun, warm and moving.

The heart that he had previously calmed down was once again moved.

"Now that it's over, we should set off."

He reached out his hand to her, wearing the same gentle smile, and when her hand fell into his palm, his eyes were filled with love...

Both of them remained silent with their heads bowed, feeling the warmth between their joined palms, until they reached the edge of the forest. Suddenly, Zisang stopped Nan Xianyi.

Nan Xianyi was about to turn around when suddenly a weight fell on his shoulder, and he fell...

Zisang stood still, staring blankly at Nan Xianyi, the stars in her eyes instantly dimmed.

In fact, the stars had long since fallen, and the sea had long since dried up. She was just putting on a false mask to hide her weakness from others...
