Chapter One Hundred and Thirteen: Memories

Unconsciously, memories surged in his mind.

Nán Xián Yì once fell in love with the noble demon princess Zǐ Sāng. People advised him that humans and demons should not be together and urged him to give up. But how could he let go when moved by love?

He hated that he was merely mortal, unable to grow old with her. At that time, he most longed for immortality. He sat by the scattered bookshelves, the words "attain immortality" on the book seemed like a spell, tugging at his mind.

Obtain the demon's soul, consume it, and gain immortality!

The first time he desired immortality was because he met someone he wanted to protect for a lifetime, someone he wanted to hold hands with forever.

And now, that person was truly before him. He didn't want to experience the pain of losing her again. If he could, he would shed his armor, strip away his immortal bones, and live an ordinary life with her as a simple couple.

A faint blush appeared on his pale face, and his smile was no longer so cold but a heartfelt, emotional one.

"Immortal, what's wrong?" Yunsi looked at him, confused.

Junfeng immediately stopped smiling, glanced at the bewildered Yunsi, and then shifted his gaze to the blood marks on her palm.

As he treated her wounds, he said, "I found the child you asked me to save. She belonged to the mermaid clan. Jiě Qīngruì, her sister, set up everything that happened in the mermaid marsh. After Jiě Qīngruì left, the girl returned to where she belonged."

Yunsi lowered her eyes and remained silent for a few seconds, as if she had something to say but held back.

Junfeng noticed her hesitation and continued, "She said she was happy to have known you. If fate allows, she will come back to see you."

Yunsi looked at Junfeng for a while, blushed, and shyly asked, "How did you know what I wanted to ask?"

Junfeng smiled without answering.

Junfeng healed the wounds on Yunsi's palm. The red cuts vanished instantly, as if they had never been there.

Junfeng raised his eyebrows, crossed his arms, and proudly said, "So, how am I compared to your master?"

Without thinking, Yunsi replied, "Of course, it's Master…"

A sudden death glare stopped her.

Yunsi swallowed and forced a smile. "You're amazing, you're amazing!"

But it was obvious that someone was not buying it. With a huff, Junfeng turned to leave.

"Fine, since your master is so great, go find your master. I have things to do and can't waste time here."

Why is he acting so spoiled now?

"Immortal!"

Yunsi suddenly called out to him.

He stopped, standing there with an air of arrogance, not turning back.

He didn't turn, so Yunsi tiptoed on a stone to be at eye level with him.

Looking seriously into his eyes, she said, "Immortal… Junfeng, since we met, you've never asked for my name."

Her intense gaze felt suffocating, as if she was interrogating him—why he never called her by her name, why he never asked for it.

But he never avoided her gaze. At this moment, he seemed more immersed, sinking into it.

"Who is Sang'er? Am I her?" she asked again.

"Sang'er…" His throat was dry, unable to produce sound.

Her eyes misted over, and at that moment, she seemed to understand something. She saw a fleeting expression in his eyes.

She smiled, feeling a mix of emotions, but she still gave him her most beautiful smile. "Sang'er is such a nice name. Actually, you can call me Sang'er too."
