When they arrived at the island, Anastasia stood at Elain's side, the breeze sending shivers down her spine. The water stirred as Deborah emerged in her human form, her eyes scanning the horizon before stepping out. A tall, pale-skinned woman followed, her presence commanding. Her eyes were as dark as the night sky, and her lips were a shade of red. Anastasia's gaze locked with the woman, and she couldn't look away as Calaena walked toward her.

"Alora," Calaena's voice was soft, almost as if they had met before. "It has been far too long."

Elain smiled. "Dearest mother."

Calaena walked toward Anastasia, her lips curled into a broad smile that didn't reach her eyes. "I've always had a fondness for you, Alora, and that is why I sent Elain to bring you here—I wish to speak to you. I assume you understand what I'm talking about."

"I understand," Anastasia spat out.
