Chapter 47: Talking with Family (Part 2)

I make my way to my mother's study. My mom, originally from the capital, is the eldest daughter of the prestigious Ling family, the top-ranked family there.

A few minutes later, she enters the room, carrying a tray with some sweets and coffee. She sits down, smiling warmly at me. "So, what do you want to talk about, dear?" she asks.

I glance around the room, then back at her.

Noticing my hesitation, she says reassuringly, "Son, everyone here is loyal to me. You don't need to worry about them."

I reply, "Mom, they may be loyal to you, but not to me. Please, let them leave the room."

She nods, a faint smile appearing as she says, "Leave."

I watch as several shadows slip silently out of the room. Once they're gone, I wave my hand, creating a soundproof barrier around us. My mother's eyes widen slightly as she observes the barrier, lowering her guard because, after all, I'm her son.

With a puzzled look, she asks in a cool tone, "What are you doing, son?"

"Now we can talk, Mom," I say, my voice calm.

She looks at me, her expression serious, as I begin. "Mom, do you think I really enjoy my life just because I have a loving family and childhood friends who support me?"

I pause, taking a breath. "You know, in my last life, things weren't good. When I was born as your son in this world, my first thought was to live lazily and enjoy a rich, carefree life. But as I grew up, I discovered something that changed everything—something that completely altered my view of life."

My mom studies me, visibly confused. "What do you mean, dear?"

"Mom," I continue, "when I was born in this world, I was thrilled. I had a family—something I'd never experienced before. You, Dad, and my sister... you're the best part of my life. In a way, you're all gifts I earned through my karma in my last life."

I pause, stand, and walk over to the window, gazing outside. Keeping my eyes on the sky, I say, "You know, I didn't plan to live any differently. But when I turned thirteen, I discovered something that changed everything."

Turning back to her, I add, "This world… it's fictional. And I am its villain."

My mother stares at me, shocked. "What do you mean, a fictional world? A villain? I don't understand."

I nod slightly. "Mom, you know I'm recognized as a prodigy—in business, knowledge, even cultivation. I never intended to break the engagement with Yin Ren Tang, but then that man suddenly appeared when we were meeting her father."

She nods, remembering that moment.

I continue, "The world shifted for me when I realized who I am here, what role I'm supposed to play… and what that means for all of us."
