AND I'M LOST

I pulled my neck gaiter down, scratched my head, and took a deep breath. Then, I sighed in frustration as I paced back and forth, my hands on my waist. The air was getting heavier, the breeze picking up quite a bit. And I was…

I was lost.

"Shit." I muttered, looking at what seemed like an endless expanse of trees and bushes in front of me. "Where did I come from? Which way was the city?"

The forest was dense and foreboding. The howls of wolves echoed through the trees, sending shivers down my spine. Every now and then, rustling sounds came from the bushes that made me… a little – only juust a little scared. The occasional hoot of an owl and the distant screech of some bird added to the eerie atmosphere. The place felt alive, but not in a welcoming way, more like it was watching and waiting. Or it was my paranoia getting to me. I was a city dweller my whole life, after all. Never been outside the city walls.
