I watched in horror as nearby Faes attempted to fend off the creatures. Their arrows and blades were proven futile against the molten skin of their enemies.
The creatures seemed immune to the any attacks, their fiery forms melting through any weapon or barrier with ease.
Soon the Faes unleashed their elemental powers, conjuring torrents of flame and gusts of wind in an attempt to subdue the relentless onslaught.
But the creatures merely absorbed the flames, their insatiable hunger for destruction driving them ever onward.
I searched desperately for any sign of Ludwig, but I could see none. It only added to my growing sense of unease.
But there was little time to dwell on it as the battle raged on. "What the hell am I doing here?" I whispered to myself.
A man with brown curly hair approached Liam, his voice filled with urgency as he reported on the situation.
I strained to hear their conversation over the roar of the flames and the shouts of the combatants. But their words were lost amidst the chaos.
Suddenly, Liam ascended to the skies, unleashing a torrent of water. The powerful deluge swept across the battlefield, dousing the flames and creating a thick mist that hung heavy in the air.
Though the enemy's advance was slowed, they remained undeterred, their molten forms glowing fiercely.
The steaming mist enveloped the area, and I realized that the battle was far from over.
The Faes continued their valiant efforts, hurling spells and weapons at the creatures despite their seeming invulnerability.
Later on, a desperate cry for help pierced the air, drawing my attention.
My eyes scanned the scene until they landed on two small figures, their voices barely audible from afar. They stood perilously close to the advancing creatures.
Fear surged through me as I realized the danger they were in. The Fae knights fighting nearby seemed oblivious, their focus consumed by the battle unfolding before them.
Without hesitation, I knew that I had to act. Though I lacked the powers of the Faes or the strength of the knights, I couldn't stand idly.
I raced towards the children, heedless of the danger that lay ahead.
Suddenly, a blazing tree crashed in front of me, eliciting a scream that nearly escaped my lips.
Liam's voice cut through the chaos. I felt a surge of relief, tempered by a pang of guilt at my recklessness.
"What the hell are you doing here?" His voice thundered, his eyes flashing with anger as he hoisted the burning tree aside.
"I... I was trying to save the kids," I stammered.
Liam's expression softened slightly, replaced by a look of exasperation.
"There are no more kids here," he said firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument. "They've been evacuated to safety."
With a heavy heart, I watched as Liam summoned a new water barrage. His movements were swift and sure as he continued to battle the encroaching creatures.
"I'm sorry," I murmured, my voice barely audible over the roar of the flames. "I just... I wanted to help."
Liam glanced back at me, his expression softening slightly. "I know," he said, his voice gentler now. "But you can't help anyone if you get yourself killed. Stay here, stay safe. Let us handle this."
"But there are still two of them, there," I argued desperately, pointing at the retreating figure of the creature, clutching two children.
"What are you talking about?" Liam questioned, his tone edged with confusion. "There are no kids, Louise."
He scanned the surroundings frantically, panting, but it seemed he couldn't see what I was witnessing.
I stood frozen, unable to understand why Liam couldn't see the children ahead. The flames erupted, but the desperate cries of the kids pierced through.
Without hesitation, I bolted toward them.
"Louise!" Ludwig's pleading voice cut through.
Though perplexed by his sudden presence after his absence moments before, I dared not glance back.
My focus was fixed on the children struggling against the grasp of the creatures dragging them away.
Despite the blinding blaze and relentless downpour conjured by Liam's magic, I pressed on against the flying debris.
The creature seemed to drift farther away. The children's anguish pierced through me. It was a mixture of pain, sorrow, fear, and desperation echoing in my mind.
I clenched my jaw, summoning every ounce of determination within me. I couldn't stand idly by. I had to intervene, to do something, anything to help them.
I surged forward and delivered a forceful kick to the creature's back. My eyes widened in horror as my leg seemed to pass through its body without resistance.
The creature halted its advance, though it remained unharmed.
My attention turned to the children, their tear-streaked faces and battered bodies were the result of what they had endured.
The sight of a young child, no more than two years old, with a bleeding arm, ignited a fierce rage within me.
Everything blurred as I succumbed to a primal fury I had not known I possessed. I was consumed by pain, anger, and the taste of blood.
Then, as if swallowed by darkness, everything faded to black.
