Agatha's mind was heavy as she left the shop. The revelations weighed on her thoughts, making it hard to focus. Even as she rode in the carriage, her attention wandered, and she barely noticed the world passing by. Luckily, she didn't fall or hurt herself.
What if it was true that Liam was the King of the Water Fae Kingdom? What should she do then? Would they capture her if they found out who she really was and what she had done? Would she be imprisoned in a dungeon again? And what would happen to Aiden if that occurred?
A sudden, chilling thought gripped Agatha's heart: what if the real reason Liam was in Primotheus Capital was to capture her, not Nysander? It would explain why they insisted she and Aiden stay with them, to monitor their every move. Once everything was in place, she would be taken.
Tears streamed down Agatha's cheeks as she felt an overwhelming sense of betrayal. She had trusted Liam and Leonel, but now she learned that Liam might actually be the King of the Water Fae. What was their true plan?
Her body went cold, and her heart felt as if it were being squeezed. She should never have trusted them so easily. She had learned the hard way that trusting others often led to pain and betrayal. Why had she let her guard down? What could she do now?
How could she and Aiden escape from everyone? Nysander could be lurking anywhere, desperate to catch Aiden. What was she supposed to do?
Agatha was still lost in thought when the carriage reached Albus Hotspot. If the coachman hadn't knocked to get her attention, she wouldn't have realized they had already stopped.
She wanted to rush back and take Aiden away immediately, but her body wouldn't move. Her mind was busy racing through all the possible actions she could take to escape both Liam and Nysander.
Maybe she could find a witch and pay her for a teleportation spell to take them to Colossus. Once there, she could find another witch to transport them to the Forgotten Fjords. From there, they could travel back to Primotheus Capital and hide in Eldoria. This way, there was a slight possibility they could escape unnoticed. No one would expect them to return to Eldoria after such an elaborate route. Besides, it was difficult to track anyone in the Forgotten Fjords, making it the perfect place to lose their pursuers.
However, Agatha needed a significant amount of Galleons to pay for two teleportation spells for herself and Aiden, as well as enough money to buy food and supplies for their journey. She estimated needing at least five to ten gold coins to ensure their escape. But where could she find such a large sum in the shortest amount of time?
"Aggie?" a concerned voice called out to her.
Agatha snapped out of her thoughts and saw Albus approaching.
The night Liam and Albus had their fight, Albus was still unconscious when Agatha returned to Slumber Shack. She had been worried about his condition, which was one of the reasons she came back today.
Albus stood before her, looking strong. Two ladies clung to his arms.
"Albus, it's good to see you well," Agatha said.
Albus laughed heartily and gently released the ladies' hands, motioning for them to give him some privacy to talk with Agatha.
One of the ladies shot a disdainful glare at Agatha, but she ignored it.
"I'm very sorry about what happened before. I didn't expect things to turn out like that," Agatha said.
Albus seemed unbothered. "Aggie, you know it's no problem for me," he said. "I was only concerned about you and Aiden, and that Fae…"
Agatha understood his concern and nodded enthusiastically.
There was a pause. "Is he your Fate?" Albus asked directly, causing Agatha to nearly stumble in shock.
Her eyes blinked a few times as she pondered her response.
When Agatha had left Etherealis at a young age, she was oblivious to much of Fae culture. Growing up with Auntie Isa, who wasn't a Fae, and her sister, who also lacked Fae heritage, meant that Agatha had never been taught about the intricacies of Fae life or how one discovered their Fate.
Agatha had no idea how the Faes had found them or what criteria determined a creature as one's Fate. Her knowledge was limited to the Werebeasts and their ability to sense their Fates through scent alone.
Albus sensed Agatha's uncertainty and smoothly changed the subject. "Why did you come back here, Aggie?" he inquired. "Is there something you need from Camilla?"
Agatha nodded immediately. Amidst the chaos of Albus losing consciousness, she had forgotten to discuss work-related matters with Camilla.
"Are you looking for a job with a high salary?" Agatha ventured, her courage bolstered. "I need to earn a substantial amount of Galleons as quickly as possible."
Albus paused at Agatha's question. He knew she had always preferred to keep a low profile and hadn't sought out high-paying jobs due to the associated risks of exposure to affluent individuals.
However, circumstances had changed, prompting Agatha to consider different options. "Well, I know of an elderly wealthy Metamorph who's ailing," Albus said slowly, studying Agatha's reaction. "His illness is rare, and numerous Alchemists have attempted to cure him. Last I heard, he was offering two gold coins for successful treatment."
Agatha's eyes widened at the mention of two gold coins. It was a substantial sum!
"Where can I find him?" she inquired eagerly.
Albus offered, "I could take you there if you'd like. His son is a business associate of mine, and we could discuss potential arrangements. It was originally Camilla's responsibility, but you know how she is around men," Albus added with a chuckle.
Although Agatha was wary of unfamiliar men, she trusted Albus and felt a sense of security in his presence. She remembered how fiercely protective he was of his sisters, nearly resorting to violence when someone slighted them during her first year working with them.
"Let's go, then," Albus proposed.
Agatha nodded in agreement.
