Two Sons

When the doctor applied firm pressure on Ella's abdomen, she felt a faint, dull ache. Her shoulders tensed as nervousness gripped her. 

 

"It's almost done. Don't be so tense—relax a little. The baby is doing great!" 

 

A nearby midwife gently comforted Ella, holding her hand and giving it a reassuring pat. 

 

Ella took a deep breath, but her heart continued to race. She could feel the doctor reaching for the baby—her child was about to be born! 

 

Cold sweat beaded on her forehead. The midwife, carefully attentive as per Eric's instructions, wiped the sweat away. 

 

At that moment, Ella felt the baby being delivered. 

 

"10:30 a.m., a baby boy! There's still another one!" a doctor announced, holding the newborn up for Ella to see. The little one let out a loud cry, his voice strong and piercing. 

 

"Mrs. Nelson, take a look—can you tell if it's a boy or a girl?"
