Ace looked at Janine, who was staring at her father, Koga, with a hurt expression after Sin had revealed his past as a Rocket Executive.
Silently, Ace slipped his hand into his pocket and pressed the distress signal button on his Pokédex, which would alert the nearby police. He then turned to everyone and spoke firmly. "We can deal with this later. Right now, our priority is stopping Sin."
Sin, still perched atop his Honchkrow, let out a chilling laugh. "You think this ends here? I'm not leaving Fuchsia City until every single one of you is dead."
With a sinister smirk, he tossed his Poké Balls into the air. Alongside his Honchkrow, his Tangrowth, Sableye, Drapion, Houndoom, Grimmsnarl, and Krookodile appeared, all ready to wreak havoc.
Ace's gaze hardened as he issued his command. "Our first priority is capturing Sin. We'll deal with the Team Rocket matter later." He shot a glance at Koga, whose face was shadowed by a small frown and the sadness in his eyes as Janine's expression remained filled with betrayal.
Without hesitation, Ace, Serena, Dawn, May, Ash, Gary, Brock, and Misty sent out their Pokémon. Their Pokémon charged forward to intercept Sin's team, but Sin merely laughed. "Did you really think I was weak?"
Suddenly, all of Sin's Pokémon were engulfed in a dark aura, their eyes burning with unnatural rage. Their power surged as they roared aggressively before launching an all-out attack.
Serena gasped. "What's happening to them?!"
Koga muttered under his breath, his expression grim. "They've likely been given PD Capsules. A dangerous drug that activates at the Pokémon's will, enhancing their power in exchange for a fraction of their life force… and an uncontrollable enraged state."
Ace growled in frustration as Sin cackled maniacally.
Then, without warning, the battle came to an abrupt halt. A surge of dark energy erupted as Marshadow materialized, unleashing a powerful wave of aura that sent all of Sin's Pokémon sprawling backward.
Marshadow's glowing red eyes locked onto Ace. "Marshadow..." it murmured, its voice echoing through the air.
Ace blinked in surprise before his lips curled into a confident grin when he understood what Marshadow was trying to say. Carefully shifting his weakened Smeargle onto his shoulder, he took a step forward. "Marshadow, use Fire Punch!"
To everyone's shock, Marshadow obeyed without hesitation. Moving like a blur, it appeared in front of the enraged Tangrowth and delivered a devastating Fire Punch that erupted like a Fire Blast. Even with the drug's enhancement, Tangrowth collapsed instantly.
Without missing a beat, Marshadow flickered in front of Sableye. "Shadow Punch!" Ace commanded.
Marshadow struck Sableye with such force that it was launched into the air. In an instant, Marshadow reappeared above it and delivered a crushing kick, sending it crashing into the battlefield with a resounding boom. A crater formed where Sableye landed, its body motionless.
As Ace continued issuing orders, Marshadow systematically took down Sin's enraged Pokémon one by one. The others could only watch in awe as the sheer power of a Mythical Pokémon was displayed before their eyes.
With all of Sin's Pokémon defeated, Marshadow turned its gaze to Honchkrow, which was still airborne. It soared into the sky and delivered a thunderous punch, sending Honchkrow plummeting to the ground. Sin, who had been perched on its back, was thrown violently through the air before crashing into the ground.
As Sin groaned, trying to push himself up, Marshadow materialized in front of him and delivered one final punch, knocking him out cold.
Ace and the others walked up to Sin's unconscious form. Marshadow turned to Ace and gave him a solemn nod. Its voice echoed in Ace's mind. "I will only help if you are in a life-and-death situation, Arceus' Champion. But if you ever turn evil… there will be consequences."
With those final words, Marshadow dissolved into a black fog, vanishing from sight.
Sin, the most wanted assassin in the world, had been captured by Ace Drago who, just two days ago, had also taken down the second most wanted criminal—Hunter J.
The police arrived and took Sin into custody, confiscating his Poké Balls and any other dangerous items he had. As they led Sin away, Ace and the others turned to Koga, who sighed before motioning for them to follow.
"This is going to be a long story," Koga muttered.
Once the police had left, Ace and his friends followed Koga, their curiosity piqued.
Meanwhile, inside the police jeep, Sin sat restrained in heavy chains. His eyes fluttered open slightly, a small smirk forming on his lips.
Two Porygon-Z materialized in secret. One silently infiltrated Officer Jenny's phone, while the other slithered unseen into the power cables leading to the gym.
'This was all part of my plan,' Sin thought darkly, shutting his eyes once more, feigning unconsciousness.
The police force continued their journey to the Fuchsia City station, where arrangements had already been made to transfer Sin to PSKM Jail. Elite Four Bruno himself had been stationed as an extra precaution, ensuring Sin had no chance of escape.
But in just two days, the world would witness something shocking—an event so ridiculous and dangerous that it would shake the Pokémon League to its very core.
Ace and his friends, alongside Janine, sat on the sofas and chairs in the dimly lit room. The atmosphere was heavy as Koga stood near the window, his arms crossed, gazing outside with a distant expression. The faint glow of the moon cast shadows across his face, emphasizing the deep lines of experience and regret etched into his features.
With a heavy sigh, Koga finally spoke. "In the past, during my youth, I was impulsive, reckless even. I was not the cunning man you see before you today."
The room remained silent as everyone listened intently. Even Janine, who usually had something to say, remained quiet, her gaze locked onto her father.
"Back then, I had just graduated from the Pokémon Ninja School. I was young, arrogant, and overconfident in my skills. That arrogance led me down a path I never should have walked... the path to Team Rocket."
A grimace crossed his face as he clenched his fists. "As Pokémon ninjas, we take on various missions—stealth, information gathering, even stealing. It was during one of these missions that I found myself in grave danger. I was outmatched, cornered, and for the first time, I thought I would die."
He paused for a moment, his eyes darkening as the memory resurfaced. "But then... a masked man appeared. He had a powerful Beedrill, one unlike any I had ever seen. He saved my life that day. After the battle, he revealed himself to be the boss of Team Rocket. Of course, back then, Team Rocket was nothing more than a small, ambitious group."
Koga exhaled sharply before continuing. "He offered me a place in his organization. And because he saved my life, I felt indebted to him. I agreed, but only on a temporary contract—fifteen years. That contract ended just a year ago."
Ace and the others exchanged glances, their expressions filled with uncertainty.
'Giovanni actually let him go?' Ace thought, narrowing his eyes slightly. 'That doesn't sound like him. Unless... he felt he no longer needed Koga. The Mewtwo Project… Yeah, that must be it. With Mewtwo under his control, Giovanni probably believed he had more than enough power to compensate for losing an executive.'
Koga continued, his voice laced with solemnity. "For fifteen years, I carried out Team Rocket's orders without question. I rose through the ranks, eventually becoming an executive. And yet, when the time came, the boss was a man of his word. He let me walk away."
Silence filled the room once more. No one knew what to say. The weight of Koga's past hung over them like a dark cloud.
Then, Janine broke the silence. "Why did you lie to me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Hurt flickered in her eyes as she stared at her father.
Koga sighed, looking at her with a softened expression. "Because you're my daughter, Janine. I didn't want you to know. I didn't want to put you in harm's way."
He turned his gaze towards Ace and the others. "But know this—I have severed all ties with Team Rocket. There are no relations between us anymore. The Boss... he made sure of that. As part of our agreement, all crucial information—identities of high-ranking members alongside his own, locations of bases—everything was erased from my memory. I know nothing now."
Ace crossed his arms, considering Koga's words. He studied the older man carefully, searching for any sign of deception, even using his Poke-Force. But he found none.
Then, after a moment, Ace smiled. "Well, I can tell that you've changed, Koga. And you're sincere. So, I won't say anything to anyone."
The others took a moment to process it before nodding in agreement.
"Yeah, me neither," Misty added.
"We won't tell anyone," Gary agreed.
Koga's eyes widened slightly, as if surprised by their acceptance. He then turned to Janine, who suddenly stood up and embraced him tightly.
"Just don't keep things from me anymore, okay Dad?" she murmured, burying her face into his chest.
Koga's expression softened, and for the first time that night, he smiled. A small, grateful smile as he wrapped his arms around his daughter. "I promise."
Serena, Misty, Dawn, and May had tears in their eyes as they watched the heartfelt moment between father and daughter. Even Ace, Ash, Gary, and Brock couldn't help but smile at the touching reunion.
For the first time in a long while, Koga felt a weight lift from his shoulders. Perhaps, after all these years, he could finally leave the past behind and move forward.
At least, he hoped so.
