Good Fortune Approaching

At the stairway, Shen Tong and Liang Xiaoyuan bumped into each other suddenly.

"You're just in time. I was looking for you," Shen Tong said with a proud smile.

Liang Xiaoyuan felt a mix of helplessness and concern. He had heard that she went straight to Xia Zixuan's office as soon as she arrived at the company, so he hurried over to check on her. To his surprise, she had already come out, and judging by her demeanor, everything seemed fine.

"Why were you looking for me? Everyone knows you're the GM's favorite now," Liang Xiaoyuan said, his tone laced with an unexpected bitterness that even he didn't quite understand.

Shen Tong burst out laughing. Unfortunately, she was born to be slow-witted person in the field of love, and didn't think much of it.

"Yeah, I guess. My career is really taking off now. How about treating me to a meal in celebration to curry my favour? You never know, you might need my help with something in the future," she teased.

This was a typical playful remark from Shen Tong, but to Liang Xiaoyuan, it sounded different this time. Did she really intend to cozy up to Xia Zixuan and become the GM's wife?

Seeing Liang Xiaoyuan frown slightly, Shen Tong, thinking he was displeased, stepped closer and put her arm around his shoulder.

"Hmmm, actually I guess you've always treated me. How about I treat you this time? But I'm busy these days. Once I get things sorted, I'll call you. Alright, I'm off."

"I don't know what kind of celestial luck I'm having right now, but why do I feel there's no good to be had from the GM helping me so much? Blessings come with their own risks," she muttered as she walked away. Liang Xiaoyuan, who had been worried, finally relaxed hearing her doubtful tone.

Several days of clear skies and leisurely clouds floating in the blue sky followed. The filming progressed smoothly.

Chen Xiaoyong had surprisingly been quite well-behaved these past few days, but Shen Tong didn't have the time to worry about her, as long as she didn't cause trouble.

However, Su Xiao had been giving her inexplicably strange looks, sending chills down her spine. Surviving under his constant icy glare took some courage.

During a break on set, Shen Tong called over Chen Xiaoyong and Su Xiao.

"We'll wrap up early today. Remember, tonight is the city government's business banquet. Make sure you prepare well and perform your best to gain the city leaders' support for our company's development," Shen Tong instructed.

"Hmph," Chen Xiaoyong snorted. "Of course. Did you get my dress ready? If anything goes wrong, you'll be out of a job."

Shen Tong was speechless. This was classic Chen Xiaoyong, flipping the script entirely. No matter, she was used to it. She would handle the arrangements.

Suddenly, Shen Tong realized a serious problem! When it came to socializing, Su Xiao was a total liability. He might end up glaring icily at the city leaders instead of engaging them. She decided she had to stick close to him to prevent any faux pas.

Shen Tong had been tirelessly preparing all afternoon, organizing outfits and makeup for Chen Xiaoyong and Su Xiao. With everything in place, they were now on their way to the banquet.

"Su Xiao, do you think these shoes match my outfit?" Chen Xiaoyong asked, smiling sweetly at him.

Shen Tong sighed inwardly. Chen Xiaoyong had been obsessing over her outfit since they got in the car, but Su Xiao remained unresponsive, staring out the window at the city lights.

She resolved to stay close to Su Xiao during the event to manage any awkward situations.

Finally, they arrived at the venue. The banquet started at eight, and it was only seven forty-five. Shen Tong took the opportunity to brief them again. "Su Xiao, just stay behind me and I'll handle the socializing."

Su Xiao's expressionless face showed a flicker of change, and he asked, "Why?"

"Because you always look like someone owes you money. When you stop doing that, you can ask why," Shen Tong retorted, meeting his gaze head-on.

The tension in the car thickened, their eyes locked in a silent battle. Finally, Su Xiao looked away and muttered, "I'm not going."

Shen Tong felt her head pounding. She knew Su Xiao was difficult, but this was too much. She decided to play her trump card. "Su Xiao, do you want to release an album or not? If you don't, get out now. If you do, come to the banquet. These events are your chance to get noticed."

After a long silence, Su Xiao didn't move.

Chen Xiaoyong, annoyed that Su Xiao had spoken more to Shen Tong, tried to lighten the mood. "Shen Tong, don't make it hard for him. I'll keep an eye on him."

Su Xiao neither agreed nor refused, sitting quietly. Shen Tong felt relieved. With Chen Xiaoyong's help, she might manage the evening.

"Alright, time to go," Shen Tong said, hurrying out of the car. Chen Xiaoyong, in a stunning burgundy evening gown, followed, and Su Xiao, in a white suit, looked every bit the dashing prince. Shen Tong admired his handsome appearance but thought he was more like a prince on an icy mountain.

The trio walked into the banquet, drawing admiring glances from all around.
