Chapter 41

Samuel was completely at a loss. Were these two enemies or a couple? If David was jealous just now when he wanted to drive him away, then what was this 'bitter fight' now?

"Young Madam, you should rest quietly and try to control your emotions a bit," Samuel kindly reminded her. For some reason, their argument actually put him in a good mood, and he found himself feeling a bit schadenfreude.

Jennifer's expression was flat and serious. "Call me Jennifer, I'm not some young madam!" She hated that title now; it felt like a huge insult. Especially after David mentioned their agreement and Samuel called her that again, it only made her feel more hurt.

Samuel was taken aback. That was something she could say when David wasn't around, but it was best not to mention it in front of David, especially with him being the outsider. Samuel knew David's character well; how could he allow anyone to belittle the status of Young Madam Xie?
