Chapter 43

"Jennifer, daydreaming again?" Xavier said, one hand tucked into his suit pants pocket. Every movement he made was so graceful that even walking on the grass didn't affect his image. At this point, they no longer used formal titles with each other.

She thought that if it were David instead, he might appear even more handsome than Xavier. "It's nice to daydream sometimes. While I'm recovering, it helps me tone down my personality a bit. Being quieter isn't so bad. I think my mother-in-law would prefer me not talking back; maybe it could change her opinion of me."

"You've changed. Just because you're injured, your mindset has shifted too. I still prefer you when you're fearless; it's quite charming," Xavier said, standing beside Jennifer and smiling at her. The sunset cast a warm glow on her, making her shine like a halo, so pure and stunning that even the scar on her face didn't diminish her image in Xavier's eyes.
