Chapter 4

Turning back to the twins, she said, trying to distinguish with her finger pointed, "and you must be Lilly, and you're Lizzy."

"No! She is Lilly, and I am Lizzy." Lizzy corrected her.

"Damn, so close to solving the mystery," Imogen cursed at herself.

"How are you close? It's just the two of us, and it is either you guess right or you guess wrong, which you always guess wrong." Lilly spat.

Imogene frowned, "I see, you are really Lizzy."

Lilly chuckled with a scoff as she mocked silently.

Lizzy smacked her own head and waved for correction, "hello, Lizzy here. We didn't even switch positions."

An exasperated sigh escaped Imogene's lips as she cursed softly to herself, "Damn again!"

The twins, in amusement, exchanged mischievous glances and teased Imogene about her struggle to differentiate between them.

Lizzy, in a playful tone, then mentioned to Lilly, "She does not go to school," subtly hinting at Imogene's befuddlement.

"Who said that?" Imogine asked.

The twins pointed at each other, making her more confused.

"I know Lilly did." She said in a fume.

Piper, who had been observing the interaction, couldn't help but intervene, her voice tinged with a mix of annoyance and concern, "What is wrong with you? Lizzy just spoke." Imogene, realizing her mistake once more, sheepishly apologized, "Sorry! I would never want twins; I can never tell them apart. I guess that's a defect—twin sightedness," she joked, attempting to lighten the mood with a touch of self-deprecating humour.

Piper, raising an eyebrow at Imogene's antics and scolded her for causing a scene.

She faced the twins and urge to refrain from further teasing lest they want to be left behind in the airport. Turning her gaze back to Imogene, she suggested, "Let's get you home already, shall we?"

Imogene, seizing the moment to inject a bit of levity into the situation, offered Piper a grateful smile and quipped, "Thank you, sister. I've had such a stressful day that I am practically having a libido. You know what I mean?" Her attempt at humour elicited a mix of laughter and awkward glances from those around her.

Piper, clearly taken aback by Imogene's inappropriate comment, couldn't contain her astonishment, "Are you stupid?" She berated angrily.

The twins, reacting with a mix of shock and amusement, chimed in with synchronized exclamations of "Eeww!" while John, cried out, "Aunty Imogene!"

As the tension in the air lingered, Piper, now visibly exasperated by Imogene's behaviour, sternly reminded her to be mindful of her words and actions, especially in the presence of the children. Imogene offered a sincere apology, "Sorry, I will quit being insensitive." She reflected on the need to exercise greater care in her interactions with others.

In a moment of sudden realization, she exclaimed, "My purse, it fell off!" Startled, she glanced around and spotted it lying on the ground on the other side of the pathway. It had slipped off her shoulder when she tumbled a moment ago.

With a sense of urgency, she gracefully gathered her skirt and ran towards her misplaced possession, her femininity contrasting with the swift motion of her steps. The rest of the family had already started making their way to the car, aware of her momentary mishap.

"Wait up!" she called out, her voice filled with a hint of unease as she struggled to keep up with their pace while the heels on her legs slowed her down.

"Why don't you try the slow-motion thing again, maybe you will catch up?" John's playful taunt echoed behind her, eliciting a mix of amusement and exasperation from the onlookers.

"It's not funny!" she retorted, slightly out of breath from the unexpected sprint.

The family couldn't help but burst into laughter at the sight of her trying to regain her composure amidst the minor chaos. "This is fun!" Michael chimed in, his amusement contagious as the others nodded in agreement, their laughter echoing through the air.

Despite the momentary hiccup, the lighthearted exchange served as a reminder of the joy that can be found in the simplest of everyday mishaps, bonding the family through shared laughter and light-hearted banter as they continued on their way to the car, the incident quickly fading into a fond memory of a moment filled with warmth and humour.
