Chapter 128

At that time, she was so angry, thinking that since the shoot was over, she might as well have a fight to vent her frustration. She rolled up her sleeves, but unfortunately, she was held back by a group of people. She was furious for several days after that.

Royce and Nadia also often did things that pissed her off back then.

She didn't get depressed—she was just personally excellent.

In the hospital room, Selena saw Lily hanging her head, obediently enduring the scolding. She reached out and pushed Zhang Zhen several times.

"That's enough, this isn't Lily's fault. No one wanted this to happen. Stop blaming her."

She gave Zhang Zhen a look, signaling her to stop and not overdo it.

Zhang Zhen glared at her and took the opportunity to scold her again.

"You're always like this, always considering others. Have you thought about what will happen to your face? How are you going to explain to Director Mei?"

She pretended to scold Selena, then started making sarcastic remarks towards Lily again. The implication was that if anything went wrong with the movie or if Selena's career was affected in the future, Lily would bear the guilt for the rest of her life.

When the topic shifted back to Director Mei's movie, Lily was silent for a while before looking up at Selena.

"I'll handle Director Mei. You just focus on recovering and don't worry."

Zhang Zhen thought to herself, 'What can you handle? You still have to rely on Edmond. Even if you don't ask, Selena will ask Edmond for help, and he'll have to find a way.'

Just as she was about to speak, the door to the hospital room was pushed open from the outside. Edmond and Alistair walked in, followed by Octavian.

The first person Lily saw was Edmond.

She didn't know why, but before she saw Edmond, she felt resigned, thinking that since Selena was injured because of her, Zhang Zhen could scold her all she wanted, and she'd endure it. She felt aggrieved but not particularly upset.

But upon seeing Edmond, she suddenly felt, 'Why? I am also very aggrieved. This wasn't what I wanted today.'

She was injured too. Her shoulder was hurting badly, so much so that she couldn't lift her right hand.

Those men weren't her doing either. She had taken several hits for Selena too, and it wasn't her decision for Selena to save her.

Zhang Zhen could complain all she wanted, but why was she scolding her? And pointing at her nose to scold her for half an hour.

Why? Even Old Jian and the others wouldn't dare scold her for half an hour.

Zhang Zhen was bullying her because she had no one to rely on? But she did have someone.

Edmond cared for her deeply, indulging her in everything. Unless she was really wrong, Edmond wouldn't even raise his voice at her. Even when he was extremely angry, he'd just spank her in bed, never scold her.

Edmond was her support, and she feared him the most. Even he had never scolded her.

Edmond always indulged and pampered her.

Why should Zhang Zhen do this? The more Lily thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt. She got up from the chair and ran towards the door, tears streaming down her face, her voice choked.

"Edmond, why are you only here now?"

Edmond saw her crying and felt deeply distressed. He rushed to her and only felt relieved when she was completely in his arms.

"I'm sorry, I'm late."

Lily wrapped her arms around his waist and cried bitterly in his embrace. The entire hospital room was filled with her aggrieved sobs.

Alistair had never seen Lily cry like this before. He felt uncomfortable seeing her usually stoic self break down, so he looked towards Selena.

Selena didn't look at him. Since Edmond entered, her eyes had been on him. The injury on her right cheek was clearly visible from his angle.

However, Edmond only gave her a cold glance before turning his full attention to Lily.

Lily's crying was heart-wrenching. When she was pinned against the wall, she was scared. How could she not be? Her clothes were almost torn off.

Memories of unpleasant past events, some she tried to forget but were etched deeply in her blood, flooded back into her mind.

If it hadn't been for her driver arriving in time, she wouldn't know what she would have done.

Maybe, like before, she would go all out, and if she couldn't kill them, she would end herself to scare them to death. Edmond held her trembling body tightly, pressing her firmly against his chest. Lily's shoulder was aching from his grip. She pushed him weakly.

"It hurts, my shoulder hurts."

Edmond immediately loosened his grip, gently pushing her away a bit. Seeing her clutching her right shoulder, his expression turned serious.

"Is your shoulder injured?"

Lily, pale-faced, nodded.

Now that her support was here, Lily didn't want to endure any longer. She directly recounted the events, starting from when the four drunkards entered the private room.

"They threw me against the wall several times, always hitting my shoulder. It hurts so much. Selena got hurt trying to save me, and our driver was injured too, blocking a hit for me from a two-hundred-pound guy."

After recounting everything, she suddenly remembered she hadn't introduced them yet.

Lily held Edmond's hand and walked to Selena's bedside. She first spoke to Selena, "This is my husband."

Then she pointed at Selena and introduced her to Edmond, "This is Selena, the big star I've told you about. I'm her fan."

There was a moment of silence in the room.

Octavian looked worriedly at his boss, feeling anxious. On the way here, he had suggested he go up first to bring the lady down, so his boss wouldn't have to meet Selena.

His boss hadn't responded and had run up immediately after getting out of the car, clearly worried about his wife.

Alistair also knew the situation wasn't favorable. He feared Selena would say something inappropriate, so he quickly walked over and pushed Edmond.

"Lily's shoulder is injured. You should take her to see a doctor first. I'll..."

"Hello, I'm Selena."

Selena interrupted Alistair, looking up at Edmond with an indifferent expression, as if seeing him for the first time.

Alistair: "?"

Edmond looked at Selena expressionlessly, his face revealing nothing.

Selena didn't seem to mind, shifting her gaze back to Lily and giving her a tired smile.

"Lily, you should go home. I need to rest now. It's been a long day."

Lily was also exhausted. She still had to go to the police station to give a statement.

"You rest well. I'll go to the police station."

After some brief words of concern, she held Edmond's hand and walked out. Just before leaving, she remembered something and pointed at Zhang Zhen to complain to Edmond.

"She scolded me for half an hour and even pointed at my nose while doing it."

Edmond glanced at Zhang Zhen.

Zhang Zhen: "..."

That damn girl, how good is she at complaining! After everyone left, leaving only Zhang Zhen and Selena in the room, Zhang Zhen cursed.

"Lily is no simple woman, a little witch."

Edmond's look before leaving clearly indicated he planned to settle accounts later. Zhang Zhen felt uneasy.

"If I had known, I would have picked a more secluded place today and had someone deal with her directly. She..."

Before she could finish, a cup flew past her face, startling Zhang Zhen. She stared at Selena in disbelief.

"What are you doing!"

Selena's face no longer showed the gentleness from before but was now filled with coldness.

"I thought something was wrong. Those four men were also rough with me, but they didn't go all out. They targeted Lily. So, did you really send those four men?"

Zhang Zhen didn't deny it, "Yes, I did it for you."

Selena couldn't believe it, "For me? You're a woman too. You sent men to ruin a girl's innocence. What were you thinking? When someone wanted to take advantage of me, you fought tooth and nail to protect me. You said you despised such methods the most!"

Zhang Zhen didn't want to bring up the past.

From nothing to everything they had now, they had seen too much of the world and changed a lot.

She sneered, "You took Lily there today with an agenda, didn't you? What right do you have to criticize me?"

Selena's face darkened. Yes, she had her motives.

Meeting Lily privately had angered Edmond. She couldn't afford to provoke him now, so she wanted to use Lily to mend her relationship with Edmond.

She had arranged for a robbery, intending to save Lily's life, making Lily owe her a favor and speak up for her.

She had ulterior motives, but she never intended to use such disgusting methods.
