Chapter 7

Lucas Radahn POV

Dayne is no doubt a genius limited by his world when it comes to sword talent. You can't get much better than him. The only way I can beat him is by using mental computation to slow him down in my senses thanks to its super computer speed and quickly dispatch him.

Plus he's a Kingsguard. If I just showed up and kicked his bum there will be problems and weird questions. Just based on my skills and reflexes we ended up in a draw.

Yeah this guy is legit. I was pulled out of my musing by a knock on the door. Confused abit I grabbed Destined Death and walked slowly to the door to answer it.

'Who's there?' I asked while listening for further footsteps incase there are more than one.

'T'is Ser Rolland Rivers of Cracklaw. You are being summoned by Queen Rhaella Targareyan.'

Fuck. This might be it. My lucky break is finally here. I was banking on the Martells but the crown… is another matter entirely as long as its not the Kingsguard.

'Father no children' they said. No way in hell.

I'll be out in a minute. Lets me put on my clothes.'

I put on a doublet and a shirt with my weapons strap across my chest and insert Destined Death on my back then make my way out of the room following Ser Rolland.

We made our way to the queen's quaters in silence. We were ushered in by Ser Barristan to her chambers. Then I saw her.

Flowing pale blond hair with sad amethyst eyes that seemed to draw you in. A black and red gown that hung to her figure.

And what a figure it was. Even after so many childbirths and even the most recent one she didn't look a day over 25. These targs are built different.

I must have neen staring and quiet for a while because when I looked into her eye again I saw an eyebrow raised in question. I promptly went down on one knee.

'You called, your grace. I am honored to be in your presence.'

She stared at me for a few seconds before looking at Ser Rolland and tilting her head towards the door slightly. He took it as a hint and promptly left us alone.

'Rise, Ser Radahn. We have much to speak of.'

As I stood again to my full height I realized just how much bigger than her I am. She was about 5'6 a good height for a woman. I sat down on the chair opposite her and waited for her to continue.

'What is your opinion on the king?' she asked. Is this a trick question. Or… is she looking for loyalty separate from the king.

'My queen… I would say it is not my place to pass judgement on the king… well lets just say if he tried to make me a kingsguard I might laugh in his face.'

Her eyes brightened for a second and her lips twitched a bit. She seemed to be contemplating something before she came to a conclusion.

Rhaella POV

Interesting. A foreigner with northern blood who is knighted and is as good with a blade as Ser Arthur Dayne.

After sending spies to find out about him it turns he's very famous in Essos for being good at putting men into the ground.

He's what I need. A knight not corrupted by westerosi values towards their king. I need loyalty someone that would be loyal and stay loyal regardless.

Aerys has always been rash but lately he has been acting more foolhardy and aggressive. Towards both me and Tywin. Is it because of Joanna's death? Did the fool lust for another man's wife that much?

Thus brought her here. She needed protection. A sworn shield. The kingsguard were a bunch of men who Aerys had his cock so far up their ass it's annoying. They won't go against any of his orders.

'What do you hope to accomplish in Westeros?' I asked the handsome, young knight who seems to have a problem keeping his eyes of me. Good. I can use that attraction to deepen his loyalty to me.

'To be a lord. I got tired of the sellsword life and need to make a future for my kids. My dad was Westerosi before they killed him in Naath. I decided to come here to his homeland to set up roots. With my sword hand I'll carve up a place for my boy.' he answered. A dedicated father. You don't find those around here.

'I need a sworn shield. Whose only priority is me. You obey me above all. You don't question me and you are my enforcer.'

'I can't agree to that your grace. I am no one's dog. I am already rich so I have no need to bend and scrape. I will keep your council as you should mine for I would never work against you. I will protect with my life and enforce your will but never against the commonfolk. I have my own personal beliefs that I would tell you in time, my queen.'

An idealist. Haven't seen one of thosr in Kings Landing in ages. It would be best to completely tie him to me regardless. He already has son so I can't use marriage but I can use my vassals. There is an island west of Claw Isle that belonged to a house now extinct thanks to the Blackfyre rebellions. The Isle of Rain. It has a very humid and wet disposition thanks to the rain that falls on the isle often.

No one knows why this happens. Might be ancient magics who knows. With House Celtigar and the other houses sworn to me his house will be kept in check lest it be besieged from all sides. An idea of how to give him a chance to earn his nobility.

Yes. That will work.

'Ser Radahn. I have a proposition for you. Lately House Darklyn has been causing the crown problems. I want you to put it to rest. I will give you some soldiers. Stop whatever they are planning as we have had reports of sellsword companies entering Duskendale. End this and I have an island with your house name on it.'

'I follow your will, my queen.'

Maester Excerpt from House Targareyan through the centuries by Maester Corlo

Queen Rhaella tasked Lord Lucas Radahn with several men from Claw Isle to put down the fledgling rebellion of House Darklyn. Lord Radahn with a swiftness found the plan to capture a royal family member to create concessions for the city charter.

Lord Lucas and Ser Rolland and a few other men snuck into Duskendale and captured Lord Darklyn and Lady Tynna of Myr. Putting several guards to sword as they escaped with them and the documents to the Red Keep whete a trial was held and they were found guilty.

Lord Darklyn initiated a trial by combat but wad put down quickly by Ser Radahn swiftly ending the uprising. Hostages were taken by the crown from House Darklyn and Hollard.

Lord Lucas was acquitted for his services and enobled by Queen Rhaella. He wad given the lands of The Isle of Rain an island near Claw Isle. Which he renamed Limgrave and their newly built castle called Erdtree.

This will not be the last service the 'queen's man' will do in service of Queen Rhaella.
