A New Perspective

"You went out and ordered a whole lot of stuff…" Lex muttered in amazement.

A ton of boxes were currently placed outside the mansion situated opposite Rio's house.

"Your training starts from now onwards. Your first task is to use your powers to lift the boxes. If something happens to you, I am here to make sure that you don't collapse." Rio reassured.

Lex took a deep breath and looked at the biggest box. It was twice his size and looked the hardest one to move.

His eyes traveled to the smallest box which was barely the size of his hand. Lex extended his right hand towards the box and pulled upwards on it.

The box immediately shot upwards and came to rest on Lex's palm.

"2 kg dumbbells," Lex read. "Did you order dumbbells of various weights to train me?"

"Dumbbells and a lot of other stuff. I ordered everything that I could think of to help you before Allen catches on to this and bans me from buying this stuff." Rio sighed. "That's why I can't order stuff to remake an arcade room."

"I see."

Lex's attention was currently placed on the middle sized boxes. Their sizes ranged from chessboard-sized to the size of a refrigerator.

"This is going to take a lot of time if I am the only one who is going to move this stuff," Lex stated.

"Time, my dear, is something that we have in abundance. Neither of us is required to visit some other place. It would be better if you start sooner." Rio smiled teasingly.

Lex felt a strange tug inside his chest, which he expertly ignored. His current goal was to train his ability.

Lex dropped the box in his palm toward the ground. But before it could hit the ground, it started to levitate. Another similarly sized box began to levitate beside the first one.

'Elfie, do you have any idea what my limit is?' Lex questioned.

[ You should be able to lift at least three similarly sized boxes before feeling overwhelmed. To be on the safer side, start with two boxes. ]

'All right.'

Lex turned back towards the mansion and started walking back. His mind was solely focusing on keeping the boxes afloat in the air.

'Telekinesis in reality is much harder to use than it is in anime or games. Those characters can easily rip buildings apart with a single thought.'

Even though Lex was not holding the boxes directly, his arms felt slightly strained. He didn't want to imagine how he would feel lifting the big box.

A few minutes passed before Lex managed to reach the basement. He placed the two boxes on the ground, stretched his back, and made his way out again.

He repeated this process multiple times, the strain on his mind and body increasing with the size of the boxes.

It took some time but eventually, Lex also experienced a headache.

'He definitely has the determination to prove himself.' Rio noticed silently. 'Lex is trying his best to keep going for as long as possible.'

Rio was moved by Lex's motivation to improve himself. However, she knew that mindlessly abusing his powers was not going to lead to any development.

"Lex, let's take a short break," Rio said after Lex had managed to take half the boxes down to the basement.

"Ha…" Lex sat down on the ground.

Sweat drenched his body as Lex wiped his forehead.

"You were right. Moving objects feels much harder right now as compared to before the fight." Lex admitted.

"So it's catching up to you. On a scale of 1 to 10, how tired are you currently feeling?" Rio asked as she came to stand in front of him.

"Uh, a solid 7 I guess? My physical endurance isn't that bad since I used to do exercise and strength training in the past."

What he said was true considering how the previous owner of his body had been learning martial arts. Though most of the gains from that were lost during the isolation period, Lex's endurance was still better than the average person.

"Hmm, would you like to go for a short flight to clear your mind?"

"But I can't fly." Lex facecpalmed after saying the words.

Of course, Rio only meant one thing.

Rio smiled and offered her right hand to him. Remembering the nauseous feeling he got after flying, Lex felt like declining the offer and sitting on the ground permanently.

His mind managed to convince him not to do that. Lex extended his hand and grabbed Rio's hand. The latter pulled him up to his feet before slowly beginning their ascend.

"One of the best things about flying is the view you can get from the sky." Rio explained. "If you are not afraid of heights, this can be one heck of an experience. It gives you a feeling of freedom."

Lex glanced down, taking a deep breath. Wind was blowing this high in the sky and his hair was being ruffled by it.

The city was slowly shrinking below them. Lex wasn't panicking but he knew that if Rio suddenly threw him down without any warning, he might not be able to prevent himself from receiving major damage.

"Even though I have appreciated this beauty many times, I am currently looking at it from a new perspective." Rio muttered absentmindedly. "I kind of hate this city due to what has happened with me in the past.

But now, I am starting to think that I might not hate this city in the future. Hopefully, things get better now that you are here with me."

"You don't really have to love the city or the place where you are born." Lex pointed out. "You might actually love the people from a certain place which will explain why people love a certain place."

"That is valid." Rio agreed and fell silent.

Lex remained silent too as both of them enjoyed the view of the city. Rio's words were echoing inside his mind, especially that of looking at the city from a new perspective.

"This much should be enough." Rio said in a soft voice.

They silently descended and landed on the ground.

"I will help in moving the rest of the boxes. Let's set these up in the basement and make you overpowered." Rio picked up one of the larger boxes and began carrying it.

Lex watched her figure disappear inside the house and smiled.

"I don't know about you but I am already looking at thins from a new perspective. Maybe you will start looking at things in that way as well."
