Surprise Attack

"I think you have something to tell us, don't you, Mr. Kaminski?" asked Kowalsk, going to assist his friend who hadn't returned for 5 minutes.

"My dear Kowalsk, I may not know much in my life, but what I do know is there's something called respect. Maybe that didn't exist in the environment where I was imprisoned, but now, here in this place, we are all free, whether to attack or to defend. So for me, if we are free to take a negative action, we are also free to face the consequences of that action."

Returning with Gareno in his arms, Kowalsk simply replied:

"I believe you're right, but next time, try to go a bit easier. If we are friends, we need to trust each other and not try to kill each other."

"I completely agree with you, Kowalsk. But next time your friend loses control, tell him that, and I guarantee if he doesn't attack me, he won't suffer."

The atmosphere was already getting quite strange, and no one knew how to escape that awkward situation, but when that deafening noise started at the floodgates, they somehow felt relieved. After all, it was an enemy they could hit freely and thus vent that desire to massacre someone without having to feel guilty afterwards.

Gareno was coming back to consciousness and didn't understand the scene before him. Old Kaminski was simply pulling the lever that opened the steel floodgates. And that was all that kept them safe from the hungry dragons that wouldn't take more than a few minutes to tear them all apart.

Old Kaminski's action surprised everyone, and Kowalsk was still carrying Gareno on his shoulders when he saw that scene that he couldn't believe.

"Please, don't do this, Kaminski. They outnumber us, and we won't stand a chance against them."

But Kowalsk's warning was already too late, and the floodgates were already halfway open, while the dragons were squeezing into the small space open for them to pass through. Since they didn't follow a hierarchy, the beasts, crazed by the smell of human flesh, tried to pass under the floodgates all at once, and obviously, this was not possible.

Adrenaline surged, and Gareno recovered quickly and jumped to the gate at a very fast speed, surprising even Mr. Kaminski, who thought for a moment he would get punched. However, Gareno wasn't concerned about him but about the dragons that were already lining up inside. There were more than 10, and obviously, they wouldn't stand a chance. Kowalsk tried to arm himself as best as possible and headed towards the floodgate, which was already almost wide open.

Thillaila was also worried and didn't know what to do because she didn't know how to fight. She only had knowledge of many things that could help, but what could she do to help someone who didn't even know how to kill a cockroach? She decided to observe how the brave warriors would act and maybe learn something.

The small, old Kaminski, who didn't attract anyone's attention because of his small stature, possessed a brute strength that was simply unbelievable. He only gave 3 touches on the head of each dragon he fought, or at least that's what it seemed, and they simply fell down as if they were dead.

Kowalsk didn't hold back and, with his extraordinary agility, jumped onto the first dragon in front of him. Even though he knew his knife would do nothing, he attacked anyway, and what was his great surprise when the knife pierced the impenetrable leather of the dragon, which expressed great pain. Taking advantage of this advantage in his hands, Kowalsk struck the first dragon that dared to cross in front of him several times with the knife in its head, sinking the blade as deeply as he could, achieving the result he had always hoped for but had never happened before, not even with a firearm in his hands.
