LYRA POV
He looked at me like he saw a ghost. I immediately got the situation and stood up from my place.
"Get ready" I wispered while fixing the bluetooth in my ear and ran towards the stairs in a rush. I dashed down the stairs of the thirteen floor building as the elevator is taking too long. Jumping to skip most of the steps and sprinting through the hallways and stairs, I reached the ground floor in fourty seconds. Crossing the road, I entered the hotel where I checked in last night and ran towards the elevator. After the elevator reached to the thirteenth floor with a ding, I exited into the pathway and fished out the keycard from my pocket.
"Lyra I think they know you are in the hotel next to them" Mike blurted into the mic after seeing a group of security officers coming out of the company and run towards the hotel.
"Are they coming for me?" Lyra inserted the card in the slot and the door opened with a tune.
"A hundred and one percent" he told me while I opened the door and removed the sneakers.
Entering the room in a rush, I hit my elbow on the door handle in the way. "shit!" Rubbing the pain off, I packed all my things into the bag and secured the laptop between the pile of clothes. Stuffing the bag with all the things, I rechecked all the places for any missed things. After making sure nothing is left out, I put on my leather jacket on the current outfit and grabbed the glasses, bandana and bike keys on the table carrying the bag on my shoulders, I left the room locking it behind me. Rushing to the elevator, I pressed on the button and waited for elevator to open. The Led screen on top of the elevator doors are showing that the lift is going down to ground floor.
"Lyra they're getting into the elevator"
Mike spoke in the bluetooth making me run towards the stairs immediately. I ran down the stairs as swiftly as I can, reaching the ground floor in twenty seconds and opened the doors of staircase on the ground floor from inside. Making sure that no one is there, I composed my rush and walked casually to the reception to check out. I walk to the parking lot of the hotel and ran to my bike in a second. Taking the bandana out of my pocket, I wrapped it around my face and adjusted the mask upto the bridge of my nose covering half of my face. Wearing the helmet on my already messy hair, I climbed onto the bike starting the ignition. The engine roared through the empty area as I sped to the exit. Halting the bike in the driveway where they could see me from the window of that room, I waited for Mike's signal listening to the bluetooth very attentively.
"They smashed the room door. They are covering all the directions.....I think someone saw you from the window" he kept watching their every action carefully. When I was almost tempted to start driving, he stopped me.
" Oh wait ..he didn't notice you. They're leaving the room one by one"
I adjusted the rearview mirror of the bike in an angle that I can see the thirteenth floor window. I saw a man's eyes directly looking at me. "he saw me" I mumbled into the mic and stayed silent.
"He saw you. They're running out. You better start now" Mike said seriously. But he panicked when I didn't move from there.
" Lyra? You should start driving " I can hear him. But I decided to stay there until they all able to see me.
" Lyra!!! Can you hear me?" He is clearly tensed over the situation. Surely anybody else will be tensed. I should be driving off from there. But what if they never saw me and I am just speeding in the roads only to be chased by air? What if they decided to check every room on the floor being left behind? They should see me clearly and I have to confirm it.
"wait" I said slowly making him nervous. My hands on the accelerator ready to be zooming through.
" Why the hell do you want to wait? Do you want to die ?" He almost yelled in the speaker. But I stayed composed and kept staring at the elevator. And when I saw the group of men coming out of it normally, like they just missed a train and there is an option to catch another train.
Mike started to panic. He is so much worried that I might not make it in time. He kept mumbling the same thing over and over again.
"It's a wrong idea Lyra please start driving"
" Wait" I say again nonchalantly while looking at the group of men walking towards the exit. Just when they were about to leave the hotel, the officer in red suit saw me and his eyes went wider. He screamed his lungs out ordering his men around.
" He is there. Catch him!!!!!!!" A deep male voice resonated inside the reception area and everyone who are inside turned their heads to them in surprise.
I smirk at them like they can see through the black helmet I am wearing which covered my face completely. Turning the accelerator to the full level when they ran towards me, I left the hotel drive way and rushed in the streets of Greyquinn City. I heard Mike curse in the bluetooth.
" What the hell Lyra? You scared the shit out of me!! Oh my god....direct them to the Loer colony. I will be there in twenty minutes" he spoke and started to pack everything and left the terrace racing to the parking lot and sitting his bike.
I saw four large enforcement cars behind me in the rearview mirror. Directing them on the highway towards the Loer colony, which is once a suburban area but is isolated now because of the highest crime rates. It is a small community which thrived with everything a person can wish to have a healthy life. It was once the greenhouse of Norlona. The area is filled with deserted building and houses. All the people left the colony suddenly after several bombings happened due to a clash between two dangerous criminal groups. It stands tall in the middle of Greyquinn City while the areas around it perished with the subtropical climate. The entire area is deserted with everything left behind to save their lives. Nature took the situation in hands and wrapped the area in a think monsoon climate with bushes and plants overgrown in the entire land.
It would be a good area for healthy life. The cool climate, soil with best nutrients and fresh air. But the crime records tell that most of the drug dealings and human trafficking is done from this area. There are several base camps for the criminals inside the empty buildings. No one wanted to take courage in risking their life and live here of all places. I drive in full throttle directing towards the empty green lands of Norlona. Speeding through the streets and crowds of people, I take glances of the cats behind me often to check whether they missed me. My heart racing along with the speedometer of my bike in excitement and overwhelming feeling that I am about to catch the most wanted criminal, the police says to be the most dangerous.
Confusing them by turning into small streets driving them out of their minds, I played with them for about thirty minutes. They just blindly followed me on full speed not even thinking about me tricking them. The security enforcement of Parker corporations ran behind me without a second thought. Directing them around a particular city centre, they followed behind me without even noticing that they have been turning around in the same area for five time in a row.
Finally, I drive through the wet roads of Loer Colony, the bike engine's sound is the only thing you can hear until a set of cars enter the scene.
"Mike?" I speak into the earphone to check if he has everything set on a specific window of a building. The building is set in the inner core of the area. It is a lone structure that has the view of most of the empty land before it.
"Show them around. I'm almost there. I am at the location. Setting everything up"
I raised the speed and turned to a new direction. I heard Sabrina come into line saying to be careful and focused. While I am planning to get them to the location, I saw one of the cars driving towards me from front. It is coming right at me aiming for the crash. I smirked at their useless idea and drifted into another road that leads to the barren land in the desired location.
"Get them here Lyra. Ready to blast their heads" the bluetooth speaker repeated what Mike said into my ear and I revved up the speedometer with the cars close behind me.
I let the throttle off and start pulling the front brake lever while pressing the rear-brake pedal at the same time, forcing the bike to stop at the location with a drift. The air around me is spread with dust and sand because of the effect of the drift. Almost making it look like a sand storm. All the cars that has been chasing me came to a halt around me. The security gaurds and some cyber team held their guns aiming to my head . I didn't even bothered to remove my helmet, still sitting on the bike. Half of my face is covered with the black bandana which I wrapped as a face mask. I just lifted the glass of the full-face helmet which is shielding my face, so that only my eyes and forehead are visible to them.
My braid fell on my shoulder sticking out of the helmet, small strands of it glistening with dew drops. A few strands of my hair falling on the forehead. The braid and my outfit is giving a patite and soft girl look while the leather jacket, helmet and the look on my face is saying otherwise. I looked at them with a confident look in my eyes getting of the bike.
Adam got down from the car infront of me and scoffed looking at me from head to toe.
"Ha! A girl? A girl ? Hours of working and chasing just because of a girl?" He yelled in frustration and behaved like a maniac. Holding his head and pulling the hair while he paced back and forth laughing like a madman. The guns aimed at me never made a small move. He walked up to me and looked into my eyes.
" Who are you? Why did you do this? I know you're just holding a strong girl facade. Who told you to do this? Tell me baby girl. You look so weak and naive. I will let you go if you tell me who made you do this" He tried to talk to me like I'm some innocent girl who is forced to do this. He inched in closer to my face while I stand there rooted to the ground without even flinching. Not a single muscle in my body moved. My eyes screaming confidence and body emitting dangerous waves. All the faces of children's who were kidnapped and transported to other countries came to my mind making me go even dangerous. My eyes turning into a dark shade of grey like the pits of hell. I locked my gaze on his eyes while my mind played it's own scene inside. The screams of kids who were forced into the trucks like they are some ragged dolls kept ringing in my ears.
And when he was about to speak another word, I decided to shut his mouth.
"Don't call me baby girl with your filthy mouth" I maintained the rage inside me and controlled myself from breaking his face. My hands balled into fists and knuckles stretched out with sharp pointy bones sticking out. The impact would be painful because of the impact of my punch speed and the strong bones digging into his stomach. He would be bleeding from the eye sockets if I crush his glasses into his eyes. I stayed silent reading his face expressions.
"Filthy?? " He raised an eyebrow in question and turned his head looking around him in exasperation. He made a 360 degree round scanning the surroundings, maybe to make sure the gaurds are in positions with guns. Finally stopped after facing me, he leaned in towards me reducing the distance between us. My instincts are kicking in and the muscle memory is trying to kick him in the face for being too close to me. I used all my wits to stop myself from expanding the disturbance in the situation.
Maybe he was hurted deeply just because a girl made him go crazy for am entire day, he failed to see the fierceness and deadly look in my eyes.
"Did you not notice the bulky bodies around you holding the fully loaded guns ready to dig a hole through your body? Or are you daydreaming?" He asked arrogantly and his eyes are slowly being covered with lust over my body. I stare straight into his eyes as I stood in the same spot, not an ounce of fear in my eyes. This seems to be driving him crazy. The helmet is covering my ears so he couldn't see the bluetooth that is constantly repeating what Mike is saying.
"In position agent. Just a single 'go' if something's wrong to make the bullets rain into their heads. The team is almost here. Just a little bit more. " he spoke in a low voice to not let them know I am a spy and is in line with other people. That would only make things complicated. I stayed silent while the idiot infront of me kept ranting about some shit he faced since last night.
"Do you know how much this thing messed up my mind? You don't know. You don't even want to know. So.... now tell me who is behind it? " He leaned in more closer towards me. The helmet is the only thing that is shielding me from his breath. Every nerve inside my body is telling me to punch him away.
