The rumoured dance of death

Once he was done with his fake, and received the rewards, Felix no longer wasted any time and went to find the woman who was known as Kagura.

By now the sun was ready to set, by since Felix had already obtained the information on her, he directly went outside the city to what was known as the bamboo forest not too far from it.

The bamboo forest as the name implied, was simply a patch of land covered in nothing other bamboos.

While the lush and huge bamboo trees grew very close to each other, without even leaving a little space to pass between them, a path had been created for people to walk through.

And the path most likely led to the woman who was too beautiful to see.

Enjoying the calm atmosphere and soothing scent due to the bamboos, Felix began leisurely walking through the clearing.

As Felix walked further deep inside the serene bamboo forest, he soon came upon a small house.

The small house had a wooden deck in front of it. And on it, Felix could see a veiled woman, that had a guqin in her hands.

Almost as if sensing Felix's arrival, the woman started playing the guqin. As her fingers ran across the strings, a mild melody came out of it and entered Felix's ears.

Once he heard the music Felix lost all of his five senses, as he felt like he was living someone else's life.

The life of a mortal who grew up in a happy home, led a happy childhood, married a pretty woman had a pair of good kids, and all in all led a happy life.

While the story felt extremely boring to him, Felix was unable to do anything but continue seeing it since he wasn't in control of it.

Suddenly the music changed and turned sorrowful as the boy who had grown into an old man passed away in his sleep.

For a while, everything around his dead body was surrounded in sadness and depression, but the music once again changed as he saw what looked like the man's soul leave the dead body and reincarnate into a flower.

After this, the music ended, and Felix blankly looked at the lady who had been playing the guqin until now.

Looking back at Felix, the lady said, "You haven't lost your mind, or got affected by the tune, so you're worthy of witnessing me dance."

"But, just so you know, not a single one who has seen me dance is still alive."

"Why? Is your dance that bad?"

Blinking her eyes, the lady chuckled and said, "Quite funny. You're the first one who ever said anything like that. It almost makes me feel bad about you dying."

"In that case, why not spare me the dance and reveal your appearance?"

Shaking her head, Kagura said, "I can't do that. Only those who don't lose themselves to my dance are worthy of seeing my appearance."

"Fine. When can I see you dance?"

"Come right in."

Following behind Kagura who went inside the house, Felix could smell the untainted scent of her everywhere.

"You're actually the first one who managed to enter my house. So even if you die, I guess you can take pride in it."

"Thanks for the confidence."

"It's not that I'm looking down on you, but my dance is rumoured to be the Dance of Death."

"Just for clarification, you won't be dancing with sword and spears in your hands while trying to kill me, right?"

Rolling her eyes through the veil, Kagura said, "Of course not. I'm dancing to find someone who can appreciate my greatness without dying. If I killed everyone that tried to achieve it, there wouldn't be any meaning behind me dancing."

"You can sit right over there, I'll be right back."

Going somewhere inside the house, Kagura who was dressed in white robes, came back in a pink one with various coloured flowers on it.

"I can sense that you have a long and bright future ahead of you. Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Of course."

Sighing from feeling a little guilty about being the reason for such a young boy's death, Kagura straightened her back and turned around.

Before Felix could ask about who would play the music for her to dance, Kagura slowly turned around while her hands began gracefully moving.

Watching the dance, Felix felt like he was witnessing the birth of a small cute bud which slowly growing big and finally blossomed into a beautiful flower which brightened the whole world.

While he felt like the dance was intoxicating, Felix didn't think that it was capable of killing him.

Similarly, Kagura was surprised as well at how Felix hadn't already lost his mind and began trying to kill himself since he wasn't worthy of witnessing such a beautiful flower.

After the dance ended, Kagura keenly observed Felix and said, "There are only two kinds of people that can stay in their senses."

"One, the kind that has never felt lust in their whole life."

"And two, the kind that has drowned their body in lust throughout their entire life."

"Honestly, there is no living being that hasn't felt lust at one point or the other. So it's obvious that you belong to the second kind."

Not at all shying away from how Kagura was looking at him, Felix openly said, "I do."

"Now am I worthy of seeing your appearance?"
