Chapter 129- Potion
(PRINCE MORGAN'S POV)
I hurried through the hall of the main palace, hearing that my father wanted me to come to the audience room, uncertainty set in. "What's going on? Why did Lord Daniel say it was urgent? I thought as I reached the area of the audience room. The guards bowed as I made my way through the entrance. Upon entry, I noticed a group of men, dressed in the royal knights uniform.
"Morgan," my father's voice traveled through the room.
I made my way towards my father and my mother as they stood in front of the crowd of men. There were at least 30 of them. As I approached my father and mother, the expression on their faces made the uncertainties I was feeling quickly fade away.
"Morgan, these are Moises' royal knights," Father said.
Turning towards the men, they were all older than the last time I'd seen them. Well, it has been 18 years, I thought.
"Prince Morgan." I watched as they bowed their heads.
"Morgan, I want them to join your knights for now until we can reunite them with your brother," Father said.
"Yes, Your Majesty, I understand," I replied.
"Also, I received word that Duke Partridge and the delegation from the Avalorian Kingdom will be arriving in the morning. We still have three days until the banquet, the conference between the three kingdom's will last two days. I will make an excuse for you while you're busy dealing with the auction houses. Your mother will attend the conference, in your place" Father said.
I turned towards my father. " Father, speaking of the auction houses. The Henrico Clan members will be assisting me. We just need to gather all of the participants. I've already released Marquess Francis, he should be meeting up with Count Livens soon."
Father nodded and turned towards my brother's knights. "You all are dismissed; in the meantime, assist Prince Morga.n"
"Yes, your majesty!" They all shouted.
(NATALIE'S POV)
It's been three hours since I left the castle. After tying the horse's reins around the tree. I kneeled beside the riverbank, splashing the water onto my face. There's still at least another two hours until I reach the palace, I thought, looking down at the flowing water.
I lifted my body, walked towards the horse and changed into the uniform. I looked down at the tag, Doctor Kinsley had given me, "If you plan to return to the palace, use this tag, the guards will know you're my apprentice" I clenched the tag tightly.
*sniff* The sudden smell of smoke caught my attention. I turned my head in the direction of the smell and proceeded to walk towards it.
"Hey, you're going to burn down the forest. I thought you said you knew how to control it." The sound of a child's voice alerted me as I approached the area.
As I looked between the trees, I noticed a group of children, varying in ages, some younger, some much older. They're clothes were torn, one was stepping on the fire, trying to put it out. The rest of them were standing around the fire, watching.
"You liar, you said you could control it." a small boy approached the other child, who was much taller than him.
"I can, watch me" The boy, who was much taller retorted. The boy started to chant something.
My eyes widened as fire sat in the palm of his right hand.
I gasped, causing them to look in my direction. All of the children gathered together as they were frightened. "Who's there?" The much taller boy stretched both of his hands out, shielding the other children. His eyes were red, his hair black. His eyes reminded me of Prince Antonio.
"I don't mean any harm, I'm just passing through. I smelled the smoke nearby" I said, raising both of my hands up, stepping from behind the trees.
"Who are you?" The much taller boy asked, still holding his arms out before the other children.
"My name is Natalie Henrico. I'm the wife of Prince Moises" I introduced myself. "Where are your parents?" I asked.
"We don't know, they went to look for work and never return to the village" the much smaller boy replied, his eyes was a pretty color, almost like a jewel, his hair was also a dark color.
A thought suddenly crossed my mind, "Do you know where the castle of Duke Winter is?" I asked.
The taller boy nodded, but I could tell he was still a little frightened.
"Go to the Winter Dukedom's castle; he will be able to help you," I said.
I watched as the children whispered amongst themselves. The taller boy turned towards me, "How can we trust you?" He asked.
I stepped forward and bent down in front of them. I reached my hand out, the taller boy placed his hand into mine. "What's your name?" I asked.
"Gabriel," he answered.
I smiled, "Gabriel, you can trust me. The Winter Dukedoms will welcome you with open arms".
After convincing the children, I watched as they left the area, all of them glancing back towards me before disappearing from my sight. "Those children are magic users, aren't they?" I mumbled.
I climbed onto the horse after returning near the riverbank. "Let's head to the palace."
(UNKNOWN POV)
Crash! "Where have you been?" Count Livens' voice echoed throughout the room. I watched as he picked a bottle of liquor, smashing it against the man's head. "Francis, where have you been?!" Count Livens shouted.
The man, Marquess Francis, that disgusting, perverted man, held his hands up.
"Calm down. I had to get Prince Morgan off of my back," Marquess Francis said as he stepped towards Count Livens, putting his hand on Count Livens' shoulder.
Count Livens smacked the man's hand away, "Now that you're here, we can prepare for the auction. Show me the girls" Count Livens said.
I watched as the man, Marquess Francis, opened the door. Two guards, pulling chains, came walking into the room. One of the guards pushed one of the girls down onto the floor, her hair was short and reddish. When she looked up, her blue eyes stared directly at me. I clenched my hand around the vial of potions I was holding.
"Mmm," the other girl groaned as she fell to the floor. The guard chuckled after pushing her down. Her hair was the color of lavender, her eyes were dark as she looked up at me.
I watched as Count Livens bent down in front of them. "Both of you, what are your names?" He asked.
"Cena, Lexi," they both answered at the same time.
Count Livens raised his body and turned towards me. " Give them the potions," he said before turning towards the guards. "Once they are incapacitated, take them to the slave quarters with the rest of the women and me.n"
After giving them the potion, their expressionless faces and the unwavering look in their eyes lingered in my mind. The look they gave me made me shiver inwardly. These girls weren't afraid at all. I clenched the empty vial tightly as the guards dragged them out.
Something tells me these girls might be my way out of here.
