Lion's Den Tavern
It was barely daytime, and already, some jobless people had congregated at the tavern, occupying the tables and ordering rounds of drinks, indulging in their favorite pastime of drinking to their heart's content.
Among these idle patrons, Alexander, who seemed a bit tipsy, was also seated alone at a table, nursing a mug of ale. His eyes were fixed on the liquid, his expression a mix of contemplation and intoxication.
Martha burst through the tavern doors, her eyes scanning the room until they landed on Alexander. She excitedly ran towards him, and sat opposite him at the same table, a wide grin spreading across her face. "All right, time to pay up," she said, her voice dripping with anticipation.
Alexander looked up at her, his gaze bleary, and without saying a word, he reached into his pocket and retrieved a bulging bag of coins, dropping it onto the table with a clink.
