**Chapter 7: Do You Misunderstand the Concept of Party?**
In just a few days, Quaresma had become familiar with his teammates, but the best way to bond and deepen friendships is to have a bold party, right?
"Come to my house tonight. I'll prepare a party just for us. I think we'll have a very happening night!" Fabiano invited his new friends during a training break, and of course, Quaresma was included.
Porto had started rigorous physical training to prepare for the new season. Physical training was undeniably boring and exhausting. Over the past few days, Quaresma had even cut back on his extra nighttime training, fearing he wouldn't be able to endure the intense regimen.
Initially, Quaresma wanted to decline Fabiano's invitation. He needed rest, and although he wasn't sure what the party's theme was, he suspected it would involve wild games with some young models. Even if he was tempted, he felt he shouldn't waste time on women, focusing instead on his urgent need for improvement.
However, Quaresma couldn't resist the relentless persuasion of his teammates. They made it clear that if he didn't attend, they might strip him and lock him in a room, charging tickets for the exhibition...
In the end, Quaresma found himself halfway into Fabiano's car, setting off with a few cheerful teammates on what he humorously considered a road of no return.
"Louis, tell us, how are we going to party tonight?"
"Louis, you're usually so quiet. How come you're the first to throw a party?"
"Louis, be honest, how many young models did you invite? Must have cost a fortune, right?"
"We can have fun, but we must keep it discreet. We don't want reporters getting hold of this."
Along the way, the teammates were buzzing with excitement, eagerly anticipating the night's events.
Fabiano's home wasn't far from the training base. It was similar in size to Quaresma's villa but located in a quieter area, indicating the Brazilian striker might prefer a more tranquil environment.
However, when the party officially began, Quaresma realized his initial assessment was correct—Fabiano was indeed a true homebody.
There were no atmospheric settings, no popular music, no inviting lights, and most importantly, no young models...
Initially, everyone thought they might be early and that the young models would arrive later. But when Fabiano closed the curtains, turned on the home theater, and inserted a disc with a solemn expression, revealing a scene of a man and a woman, everyone was dumbfounded.
Was this supposed to be a party?
Did Fabiano misunderstand the concept of a party?
This was clearly a *appreciation meeting!
Fabiano's longing expression contrasted sharply with the exasperated looks on the others' faces, making Quaresma feel as if they were from different worlds.
Even more bizarrely, Fabiano wept openly during the climax of the movie.
Using his own words—"I'm a sentimental person. The woman's cries are heart-wrenching, I feel her pain!"
One could easily find a woman to explore such happiness in real life, even paying for it if necessary. Professional athletes could easily find willing participants, even stars. Yet, here was Fabiano, watching adult films like a recluse, inviting everyone to share in what he called happiness.
Quaresma had never encountered such a unique character.
"This party is great!" Fabiano declared at the end of the evening, clearly satisfied.
However, as they left Fabiano's house, the mutual understanding among the group was clear: "This party was terrible. Next time, I'd rather go home and do anything else than attend one of Fabiano's parties!"
Quaresma found it hard to describe Fabiano. If it weren't for his teammates' insistence on finding young models to soothe their wounded spirits, Quaresma might have thought he had stumbled into an alternate universe.
There were only two possibilities:
First, Fabiano was a thorough homebody. He had not been tainted by the typical behaviors of professional players and still maintained a pure heart—though watching adult films wasn't exactly pure.
Second, Fabiano had a special hobby, preferring a platonic approach. The world is full of peculiar individuals, and some people have unique preferences. Considering how many players have problematic relationships with their teammates' partners, this wasn't the worst quirk.
Regardless, Quaresma decided to keep his distance from Fabiano to protect his own sanity.
***
"Did you hear? Yesterday, that guy tricked us into going to a party, and we ended up watching adult films all night. Now my mind is filled with those images!"
The instinct to gossip ensured that this story quickly spread throughout Porto's first team, and even the youth players next door heard about it—how a senior team member had an all-night adult film marathon with his teammates.
Thus, during the next morning's training, everyone looked at Fabiano with strange, indescribable expressions.
Fabiano, either oblivious or indifferent, went about his training routine as usual.
When training ended and everyone was preparing to leave, Fabiano approached them again.
"I thought about it, and the reason why the atmosphere wasn't so great yesterday was probably that you don't like European and American styles. I asked my friends to bring some Japanese discs. Trust me, these movies are amazing, right?"
Quaresma almost stumbled, nearly collapsing on the spot.
"Please, don't call an adult film appreciation night a party anymore. Why ruin the real party experience?"
The next moment, like a scene from a movie, Quaresma and the others fled in haste, leaving Fabiano alone in his contemplation.
Quaresma even skipped extra training just to avoid Fabiano, heading home immediately to practice on his mini-stadium.
That evening, as Quaresma reflected on Fabiano and his peculiar tastes, a ridiculous thought crossed his mind.
—Maybe Fabiano once aspired to be an adult film actor. Perhaps he came from a Brazilian slum, so poor that he couldn't afford proper clothing, and didn't seem to have many prospects.
If football hadn't saved him, maybe he would have pursued this path. Clearly, he had a deep-seated interest.
Imagining Fabiano without football, trying to escape the slums to support his family, it wouldn't be far-fetched to see him as an actor, combining passion with work.
Yes, they had found an actor delayed by football, even if his niche was unconventional...
