That night when everyone had gone to sleep Aiden found it hard to sleep, his head was in turmoil. He needed to vent his anger and that was what he was going to do. Leaving the room, he headed towards the garden. Not seeing anyone he went to one of the trees and began punching it to release his anger. For how long as she been lying to him.
Sophia did not fall asleep hence she decided to take a walk in the garden where she heard something. Following the sound she saw the prince punching the tree while his hand was bleeding. Who even punched a tree when he was supposed to be keeping his pregnant wife company.
Aiden's hand was stopped by a soft and delicate hand. Turning around he saw green eyes looking at him with confusion. Sophia, what was she doing here at this moment? Her hands were delicate despite the hard work she did how was it possible. He saw her shake her head as if not pleased.
Sophia took his bleeding hands and led him on a bench where he sat without questioning. Using her clothe she cleaned his bleeding knuckles and tied his hand. Finishing, she stood up to leave when the prince stopped her.
" Thank you," he whispered, " can you sit with me for some time if you don't mind."
Nodding her head she sat with him and together they watched the starry sky. With the prevailing silence it became awkward. Trying to break the silence he spoke
" I know you are wondering why a man who has just received the news of being a dad to be is venting his anger instead of keeping her company." Well Sophia was also curious and now that he brought it up she was ready to listen.
Urging him to continue by nodding her head the prince felt helpless. In front of his parents and everyone he pretended to be strong but he was always breaking down. So much was expected from him and no one ever thought about him. Today someone was ready to listen to him.
Taking this as a cue he continued to talk to her where she gave him all the attention he needed. Sophia could see how hurt the prince felt and she was ready to listen to him and be his comfort. She was ready to provide her shoulder for him which she did not understand why.
Prince Aiden began to tremble due to the pain he felt for the past few years. His life was never perfect and it would never be he thought. Sophia embraced him in a hug which Aiden appreciated and tears began flowing. Sophia let him cry to his heart content. They stayed there for long and lost track of time making them fall asleep.
Early in the morning when birds were chirping, Aiden woke up to see Sophia sleeping in his embrace. Remembering what had happened last night was enough to make him fully awake.
Looking at her he felt at peace, her presence made him feel at ease. She was pure and innocent thought Aiden. He smiled genuinely after what happened yesterday. Using his thumb he removed the stranded hair covering her face. He lowered his head and kissed her forehead making Sophia wake up.
" You look beautiful in the morning," Aiden teased her earning a blush from her.
"I think we should leave unless you want people to know that you slept with me which won't be that bad," poking her Aiden enjoyed her every reaction.
Aiden left first before she could leave the garden. Sophia felt warmth spreading on her body.
