Thoughts

It was nighttime in the kingdom of Varre, the sun has long hidden itself and the chilly wind blew over the horizon.

The stars were bright in the sky, giving light to those that weren't sure which path to take.

The moon shone brightly, adding to the beauty of the night.

Everyone was already in their quarters asleep by this time, but Leila couldn't sleep.

Sh thought back to the events of today and couldn't help but think that today was really eventful for her, a girl that never had drama except for being laughed at.

She thought of the stranger, a bit curious but not enough to do anything about it.

Her long beautiful golden locks were up in a loose bun. Her face was rid of any scarves or charcoal and ash, she didn't think she would be seen by anyone as it was so late.

After spending 17 years in the palace she knew where the night guards always were and patrolled so she avoided them and went to her favourite garden, letting the enticing snd soft fragrance of the flowers and plants calm her mind as she watched the stars.

She wrapped herself in a thick blanket and slowly walked along the garden path, her small dark and calloused fingers from years of working brushed softly on the beautiful flower petals. She then moved her fingers and the flowers danced along with it, she was controlling them with her powers which she learned about when she was 12....

And this was the only thing she knew how to do.... manipulate them, make them grow, shrink, bloom, wither and move.

It intrigued her, made her wonder if she was human....she looked strange after all.

But there was nothing she could find within these palace walls.

She sighed and pulled away, straightening her back.

Her blue eyes reflected the stars giving a gentle hue to her cold by nature eyes.....

She looked ethereal under the moonlight, basking in it's glory.

When she continued to walk, that's when she saw him

She paused, her eyes widening slightly...

Silver hair, gilver eyes with silver highlights that gleam under the moonlight. Tall and majestic, staring right at her.

Who knew how long he stood there.....

As usual she didn't move or speak, but for some reason she didn't feel threatened or feel the need go something to protect herself.

He also didn't move or speak, staying right at her like he can see through her and stare right at her soul.

It was like that for a good amount of time before he turned around and disappeared into the darkness.

'what's with strange men showing up these days'

She thought, she didn't feel the need to talk to him, for her safety and because she didn't care if it didn't affect her.

So she stood outside for another thirty minutes and finally went inside.

She stood in front of the small quarter she and her mother shared and took a deep breath, hugging the blanket closer to herself for warmth.

She pushed the door opened and went in, her mother was already fast asleep on the small mattress in the corner of the room.

She went to her mother's said and sat by the bedside, staring for a while before she gently brushed the hair off her mother's forehead and said quietly....

"Ma, thank you for taking care of me.....

You made me feel normal even though I clearly am not, and I have a feeling things are about to change...."

She looked at the peacefully resting woman and and sighed before standing up .

She walked over to a desk in the corner of the room and sat down, she lighted a candle opened a small drawer on the desk and took out a small pouch....

In that pouch she took out a small emblem,

It gleamed under the light, reflecting her face....it had complex patterns and looked exquisite.

She stared at it for a long time, thoughts unknown.
