235 Evil Marine

Show less"This stupid shithead!"

Sengoku was enraged when his subordinate once again caused a mess for him. He had been busy preparing for the Admiral War to choose the new admiral and gave a chance to those he was confident would win instead of giving a spot to the dog that was prepared by the World Government; unexpectedly, this subordinate of him disappointed him greatly.

Watching Sengoku's rampage, Tsuyu and Garp were in silence and didn't say anything since it had been a while for them to see him like this.

Even Garp, who had always acted like a silly old man, also remained silent and was secretly amazed by the act of this guy who even dared to beat up a king who was affiliated with the World Government.

'Even I wouldn't dare do it.'

Even those nobles, kings, and World Nobles were all shitty and were even weaker than him; Garp didn't dare to do something so crazy such as beating them all up!

"...so, why did this Smoker do that?"

All of them were familiar with Smoker, and while this guy was lawless, it didn't mean that he would do something so stupid, such as harming someone with such a high status.

Or rather, this was what they truly wanted to believe since Smoker was a good Marine.

"Or rather, why did that king come to Loguetown?"

Garp frowned, thinking the appearance of Masa in the East Blue was weird, especially when Masa's kingdom was on the Grand Line.

How did this guy get to the East Blue?

After all, due to geographical problems, it was extremely difficult and would take so long for one to travel from the Grand Line to the East Blue unless they were a Marine, as they had a special ship that allowed them to travel within the Calm Belt without being noticed by the Sea Kings.

So, why did this young kind arrive so fast and come to the East Blue?

Garp felt that Masa's purpose wasn't so simple, but Tsuyu only glanced at him and said, "Even so, it has nothing to do with us, and he can do whatever he wants as long as he pays the Heavenly Tribute."

"..." Garp.

Goddamn it!

Munching on a rice cracker, Garp wondered whether one could do anything as long as one had money.

Yes, they could, especially when they were obedient to the World Government, too.

"So, what will you do, Sengoku?" Tsuyu asked.

"Kill him. What do you want me to do? He caused such a big problem for such a small thing. What an idiot..." Sengoku sighed helplessly, having a headache due to his stupid subordinate.

"Are you sure? He did a good job to protect his subordinate, you know?"

Before the newspaper exposed everything, Smoker's followers had decided to send a report that Tashigi was stolen by a bad person, and they asked for the headquarters to help them.

Knowing all of that, Garp felt that it was too hasty to kill someone with such a justice attitude, or rather, inwardly, he had seen how rotten this place was, yet he knew if he wanted to have a comfortable retirement, he could only become an obedient dog for the World Government, or else... even if he had the status as the Marine Hero, his life couldn't be saved.

More importantly, Garp wasn't young anymore, and he was old, so he knew well that he wasn't as strong as before, whether it was his body or spirit.

Yet, even so, knowing that someone had such a Marine with such justice within his heart would be discarded like that... what would happen to the Marine in the future?

Would this organization fit the name of justice?

"You said that, but look at this newspaper." Tsuyu put the newspaper on the table for the two to see. "You could see what everyone believed."

While the three believed that Smoker wouldn't cause trouble for anything and believed that Smoker caused Masa because he wanted to protect Tashigi from Masa, in the eyes of the public, Smoker was an unreasonable Marine who looked at everyone with high and mighty before he was beaten for being weak.

It didn't matter what they believed; what the public believed mattered most.

So, what would they do?

Still, while Sengoku and Tsuyu didn't say anything, the two of them didn't care much for Tashigi that much, especially when her rank was so low, and if Tashigi could get the attention of the young king, why should she be unhappy?

Knowing Masa's face and identity, many women would be more than happy to throw themselves at him even if they had to discard everything.

Regardless, the two of them knew that emotion was a complicated issue, and even if they felt nothing, it was different from Smoker, who probably had a special relationship with Tashigi.

As for killing the civilians that were added by the Marines on the Loguetown, they decided to close their eyes on them. It was like how a child killed many ants just for fun, and probably, Masa's act was like that, so they didn't care much, especially when they saw that the town was still lively even after all of that.

Also, this wasn't Masa's first time killing many people, as he had killed many on the Water Seven as the governor of that island had reported Masa to the Marines.

However, this also showed that Masa's strength wasn't underestimated, and he also had the backing of the World Government, so—

"What can I do? They have made up their minds, and this is also for the overall situation, especially with the crisis that we are currently facing."

Yet, Sengoku didn't change his mind, especially when this problem had expanded in a way that he couldn't control. If the Marines couldn't use the word "justice" within their slogan, what was the difference between them and the pirates?

At the same time, many countries wanted to send the Marines away from their country as they brought more liability than advantages, especially for those strong countries.

Yes, the role of the Marines was similar to that of a military base created by a certain country in their allied countries, so they would be obedient.

Moreover, as the fleet admiral, Sengoku didn't want the Marines to be weakened, and if the stability could be maintained by sacrificing one person, why not, right?

Garp opened his lips, then closed them again. After all, Smoker wasn't his family, so he didn't do anything, even though he had a pretty close relationship with Smoker.

Yet—

"Isn't it too unwise to just kill him directly? He ate the Moku Moku no Mi, after all."

Even if Moku Moku no Mi wasn't the strongest Logia, it was still a Logia type, and to kill Smoker, who had eaten such a Devil Fruit, was really unwise, especially when Tsuyu thought that there were many roles that Smoker could do for Smoker.

"Then, what do you want me to do?"

When Sengoku asked helplessly, Tsuyu said the solution, "Have you thought about the SWORD?"

"SWORD...?" 2x

Somehow, Sengoku and Garp felt that this was the most suitable place for Smoker, they thought.

Yet, Smoker, who talked with the one who had the closest relationship with him in the Marines, remained silent about the loss of his Devil Fruit since he knew well if he announced this problem, his value would disappear.

Smoker's body wasn't that strong, and even if he had received elite training from the Marines, he didn't excel in his physical ability, so while it was dirty, he decided to remain in silence until—

"...me? A pirate?"

"Yes."

"...."

"Betray the Marines, be a pirate. That's your task, Smoker."

"...I see."

Clenching his fists in frustration, Smoker sighed helplessly, but he knew that this was the best way to solve his situation, or else—

"...."

Taking a deep breath, he tore everything apart and left the Marine Base of the Logiatown in shambles, and on the next day, he became—

Evil Marine.

Smoker.

Still, in another place, on the best prison in the world, all of the jailers realized the big problem that made everyone shudder.

"This... should we report this?"

"Then, what should we say?"

"I-I don't know, but..."

Watching all the dangerous and vicious criminals on Level 6 of the Impel Down disappear, everyone felt a sense of powerlessness that they had never felt before.
