Chapter 26: Changes in the Church

Chapter 26: Changes in the Church

When Luna said this, Gu Xi smiled instead.

"Convert them, convert my share immediately."

After speaking, Gu Xi looked at Luna, who understood his intention and pointed to the entrance of the council hall.

"Just place them inside. Once inside, they'll automatically convert."

Gu Xi looked in the direction Luna indicated and saw that a large wooden chest had appeared there, seemingly out of nowhere. The chest, with blue metal edges, was clearly a treasure chest.

With a place to store the eerie energy beads, the skeletons, without needing Gu Xi's instruction, began to place his share of the beads into the wooden chest. Gu Xi, standing in front of the chest, discovered that he could actually see the information inside the chest.

[Small Treasure Chest: Negative Energy Points (317/10000), Wood (9/100), Stone (8/100), Metal (3/100), Gems (0/20), Sulfur (0/20), Crystals (0/20), Mercury (0/20)]

As Gu Xi examined the materials inside the chest, Luna continued speaking beside him.

"This will have to do for now. Once we have enough resources and build a warehouse, we can store much more."

Gu Xi didn't say much, but he was curious about where the wood, stone, and metal in the chest had come from. He noticed that the skeletons, while cleaning up the battlefield, had also thrown damaged barriers hit by the black shadows into the chest. These provided the wood and stone materials.

On reflection, this was a good thing. At least now Gu Xi had materials and knew where to get more. Once everything from the battlefield was collected and stored in the chest, Gu Xi waved his hand and led the skeletons toward the church.

As they advanced, Luna explained the situation regarding the church.

"Victoria City's church is designed with the church in the front and the cemetery in the back. The church we're heading to is one of Victoria's earliest churches. I believe there's a reason why the church experienced mutations first."

Gu Xi thought for a moment and said, "Are you suggesting that the replication of the church wasn't thorough enough?"

"Yes, even if those people tried to replicate it one-to-one, they couldn't possibly capture everything inside the church. For instance, the graves in the cemetery are all empty."

Luna explained, and Gu Xi had considered the same thing earlier. However, Luna's following words were unexpected.

"In the center of the church, there's a stone coffin of a knight. This knight couldn't be replicated by James I."

Gu Xi nodded, "Not just a knight, even a common person's body couldn't be replicated one-to-one."

"No, this knight is Bors."

"Oh, it's Bors," Gu Xi said, although he didn't know who Bors was, he gave face to Luna's explanation. After walking a few steps, he stopped and looked at Luna.

"For you to explain so seriously, he must be a Knight of the Round Table, right?"

"Yes, I thought you knew."

Gu Xi had heard stories of the Knights of the Round Table, but among them, only a few had known burial sites; the rest were unknown. It surprised him that this church had once buried a Knight of the Round Table.

"So, what happened to this church?"

"I don't know exactly. According to what I saw, it was dismantled one year, and Sir Bors' body was moved to Westminster Abbey."

"Luna, I have an idea. What if, I mean hypothetically, I go to Victoria's Westminster Abbey and transport Sir Bors' body here to our small church? What do you think will happen?"

Luna hadn't thought of this. She originally wanted Gu Xi to establish an anchor in Victoria City to gather information and gain access to other mirrored cities. But she hadn't considered smuggling unreplicated items inside.

Gu Xi's suggestion prompted her realization.

"My lord, that's a great idea. We could not only bring Sir Bors' body over but also find the bodies originally buried in the church cemetery. When the church was demolished, the handling of these bodies was documented. If we find the bodies, we can transport them here."

Neither Gu Xi nor Luna had considered the impossibility of transporting bodies. Gu Xi had the Death City skill. Once Aridowei City's gates were built, he could open them anytime, making it convenient to bring in both undead and other items.

They were more concerned about the potential changes bringing these bodies might bring to the church. As they pondered this, they arrived in front of the church.

Seeing the church, Gu Xi realized its level—it was a typical country church. The church wasn't large. Pushing open the door, he saw four rows of benches, and in the center, a stone coffin lay with a sword and shield on top, signifying a knight's burial.

Exiting through the side door, one could circle to the cemetery behind the church, where tombstones and coffins had been replicated one-to-one, though the bodies inside couldn't be replicated, leaving the cemetery empty.

Others might not notice, but as a necromancer, Gu Xi could immediately tell if a grave contained a body. Seeing this, he understood why Aridowei City had become a city of death.

After circling the church, Gu Xi gestured to the skeletons following him. On the way over, he had instructed the surviving skeletons to consume the eerie energy beads, resulting in twenty Level 3 skeleton soldiers.

As Gu Xi entered the church, the skeleton soldiers waited outside. With his signal, they followed him inside. As they stepped into the church, skeletons began to appear on the benches.

Simultaneously, a string of information popped up before Gu Xi's eyes.
